Is there a website that will track your flights?

Post by mindehankins »

All of the recent flight cancellations and changes that our members are experiencing has me nervous! Is there a website that will allow you to enter your flights and will notify you if there's a change? Or one that you could check in with, daily? If there isn't yet, this would be a great opportunity for someone, I think. I'd pay for it, and bet others like me would, as well.

I'm not very techy and it took me a little bit, to figure out how to to check just our flights down to STJ, but I know I'm going to worry about this, now!

OK. I'd swear there was a reply here just a SECOND ago, with a site called Flightstats.
Am I losing my mind?
Flightstats couldn't find our flight, but it's still listed on the Delta site. So we're okay.....right?

No, Minde, it is my mind that is lost! I posted the site but decided that it was not exactly what you were seeking. Personally, I always check first with the airline I am using. Delta is our first choice airline (out of necessity/location) and we have always been notified of changes by email.

Sorry for the confusion.

Feeling guilty  I found this site that looks useful.

Oh, thank goodness! I'd HATE to lose my mind so close to our trip :D .
I bookmarked that site anyway! It looks like it might be very helpful to us in the winter, with storm cancellations.
Thanks for the recommendation, and I'll keep checking Delta and United for our specific flights.

I use flightstats for work and it is a pretty good site. If you have an account you can register your flight and they'll email you whenever there is a change. The only thing I don't like, though it is not their fault, I guess, is that it will show the flight as in flight once it pushes back from the gate, not when it actually takes off. So if the plane pushes back and just sits on the tarmac, it still shows as in progress.

Another good site when you are getting ready to book is seatguru.com. Not for on-time stuff, but for choosing a good spot on the plane.
It's like looking in your soup and finding a whole different alphabet.

Thanks, Becky! I'll register, then. Lately, we book vacations about a month or so out, so good seats are seldom an option. We're happy with any seats!

I really like flight aware for checking flight statuses (it does include "pushed back from the gate" info and take off/landing), gate information, and most importantly, it will link you to track the incoming flight.

As far as registering for your flight changes, I'm pretty sure most airlines offer this on their individual websites.

Oh, Becky, I love seatguru, too.

I would just check the airlines website when you feel you need to..that will be the most accurate anyways..

Check your airlines website and sign up for notices specific to your flight, so that they are sent to your mobile device (cell phone, smart phone). This works great if you are on the way to the airport or at the terminal with no computer access.

Thanks everyone. Will look into the app and check the airline websites. I booked through AAA, and emailed them. They said they would notify us as well.

Two of our three college kids just burned through our incendiary funds last week with car repairs, so if we had to pay for different flights, it would be a real issue.

So anxious for this vacation to come, and get outta town!
