private cabs
Hi all,
I'll apologize now for my question, I know this topic has been discussed in the past. We were quoted by the villa company we're renting with for a private cab and it seems a tad expensive. I know some of you use the same drivers on each trip. Any chance you could share the names and numbers with me?
Any help will be greatly appreciated...hope everyones having a great day.

On our first trip, our villa management company also offered to arrange a private taxi for us. The driver's name was Ivan. It was very cool being met at the airport by a guy holding a sign with our name on it, and he was a very pleasant and informative driver on the way to Red Hook.
We were so proud of ourselves for avoiding the zoo scene at the airport and getting to Red Hook ahead of the folks that just piled into vans that they would be sharing with others.
Then, about ten minutes after we got to the terminal, "they" all started showing up.
So we spent quite a bit more to get a private taxi. It didn't save us any time to speak of, but we did get personalized attention and didn't have to worry about sharing a van with folks that might have been getting dropped off at various other places along the way.

We just got back from St John and took the recommendations of many here ... we booked Rachel Brown and are so glad we did. She met us just before we went in to get our luggage and drove us out to Red Hook the back way (to avoid downtown and the cruise ships). She kept telling us we'll make the 3:00 ferry and sure enough we got there at 2:55. It was $25 each for 2 of us.
She also picked us up at Red Hook when we were coming home, and drove us up to Mafolie Hotel. The return rate was only $12 each. Then she picked us up at 6:00 am to go to the airport to catch our flight home. That was $10 each.
Rachel is a delight and will give you a little tour on the way or talk about almost anything you want. It was great getting to know her a little and hear about her life. We will definitely give her a call next time we get down to St John.

Private cab
We never thought of this option, Sounds like a great idea, we will have six people in our group. Does anyone know how many people can fit in either Rachel or Gonzi's cabs?

Just to follow up, I called Rachel Brown this morning. She does have two vehicles and can accomodate up to 11 people. The price for our group of 6 is $20 per person so the per person price is better when you have a larger group. We are all set and looking forward to meeting her at the airport.17 degrees here in Buffalo this morning. Really looking forward to it...really.

Hey that's great, someone from Buffalo! Thanks so much, we are very excited. These temperatures are soul crushing lately, it has been a longer colder winter than we are accustomed to, even in Buffalo. I will be sure to place a post after our return in early June and let you know how the cab ride went. The sun is out today and I can hear birds so spring is almost here...
