Checking out villas while on island

Post by susan & herb »

I was just curious if many of you check out other villas for your future trips to St John when you are on island.
There are a lot of villas I would like to see "up close and personal" if I could but somehow I always feel like I don't want to waste any part of my vacation looking at villas (which is business to me).

Yes, we check out other places each time we visit St. John. Of course, it's not always possible to see everything we want to see, depending on occupancy.

We usually stay within our preferred neighborhood, so it doesn't take long, and it's always felt like time well-spent, even if we wind up staying put.

I have, but again in the same neighborhood and usually by striking up a chat with the owner.

I honestly haven't....and probably wouldn't. I would much rather be on Cinnamon, drink in hand, relaxing...every villa company we've dealt with and every villa we've stayed in has been nicer than expected. Yes, we want a comfortable villa but the villa isn't our number one priority...we're pretty breezy and easy to please...so...its not been an issue at all...we've loved every place we've stayed and I assume we will feel the same on our July trip.

Absolutely, we drive all around looking at villa locations since you can't get the "true" feel online. We drive all around our preferred side of the island just to see where they are located basically, and to check for neighbors, privacy, driveways, sun/shade, etc. We only have done drive by, but would never intrude on anyone, we just make notes!! We are explorers by nature, so we do a lot of driving around and have found lots of interesting things this way!!

I never have done this. John and I do a lot of research on the places we are thinking about renting while at home. That said, we are pretty laid back. View is the #1 priority and that can be reasonably determined from online photos.
It's like looking in your soup and finding a whole different alphabet.
