Island Baby rents beach umbrellas for $15 per week according to their web site www.islandbabyvi.com glad you asked this question as many of the beaches offer very little shade. Hope it helps!

We've flown ours down. Checked luggage, arrived ok on all 3 trips. I've been happy to have it, some beaches don't have much shade.

My mother has had previous bouts with skin cancer and was very concerned about the shade. We rented an umbrella at Cinammon for $7 and didn't need one at Maho or at Trunk as we found more than sufficient shade there.

With every beach, the earlier you get there, the more likely you'll have your pick of the shade.
