What is the that bright shiny thing in the sky? Oh thats right, its the sun.
After a God awful late winter/early spring here in the much of northeast, finally breaking thru to 70s this weekend, completely bypassing any nice transitional days in 50s and 60s. Maybe now the spinich, lettuce, and beans planted 2 weeks ago can start to grow (there are few things better than baby greens right out of the garden).
Last evening, turned the page by putting the outdoor speakers back up, moved the new deck furniture back out, put on some Jack Johnson, cracked open a Caribe (I was just thirsty!), and smelled spring for the first time. Even looking forward to Sox/Yanks this weekend. Bring on the summer!
Thanks to the forum for helping those of us with a little S.A.D. get thru it all.

I agree! It is beautful today, the daffodils in my yard are about to bloom, and the birds are back!
I am looking forward to the Sox-Yanks too! I can see into Fenway Park from my office window. Based on your location though, I am guessing you are rooting for the evil empire.

Indeed I will be, but not too strongly - will root more for entertaining games, now enjoyed in hi def.
I have much stonger feelings about the Celtics, because as a kid I was huge Knicks fan (circa Frazier, Reed, Bradley etal), and the Celts were the Evil Empire.
You work in the area? Thats cool. How soon does the whole neighborhood start to buzz, or does it even happen this early in the season?

Maybe he didnt like ballpark pizza. Now there's an potential oxymoron - getting a decent slice at a stadium.

Actually we are going to a play and then to Mesa Grill for dinner. One of Bobby Flay's places. Looking forward to the city in the nice weather!

As a basketball crazed 16 yr old, I was at several of those playoff games in 73 at The Garden. Havent felt electricity like that at a sporting event since, although I was never lucky enuff to witness any of those crazy playoff or Sox/Yanks games that have taken place at the Stadium since they started their run in 96.

MB - Mesa Grill - cool. We did one of his other places Bar Americain for brunch a few months ago. Excellent. Went to a place called El Rio Grande (midtown east side) couple weeks ago - great Mex food and absolutely killer marguaritas. They have a really nice outdoor patio dining area that would be much fun in nice weather.

I can post a photo when I get home. I went to opening day and got some decent photos. It was FREEZING though!
Food at Fenway...hmmm...not the strongest point of the park, I have to tell you. They've introduced a bunch of new foods this year, none of which I have tried yet. There is a little stand right outside Fenway called "The Sausage Guy," who John says makes good sausage subs. I tend not to eat or drink anything while at a game. The lines are so long and I don't like missing any of the game.
The buzz starts early when the Yankees are in town. People are walking up to the park area already. Overall, though, too many people are here yet--I can only see one scalper.
How can I bring this on topic? I know: we stayed at Caneel for the first time because of the Red Sox! We were on island for the 2003 championship series, and you Yankees fans know exactly what happened. We were renting a villa and were supposed to go home the next day, but we were so depressed and unwilling to deal with the media fallout that we called Caneel and checked in for four nights! It was pretty good therapy, I have to admit.
