Trip Insurance - Frequent Flier Tickets

Post by Steve S »

Considering heading to STJ in September (30th anniversary) using Freq Flier Miles. Thinking of buying trip insurance (hurricane season) Has anyone experienced a canceled or disrupted trip with frequent flier tickets?

We always us our US Air FF award flights in hurricane season and have never been canceled or delayed.

We've had to cancel trips that have been set up with (American) frequent flier miles. For a fee -- $50, I think -- you can put the miles back in your account.

Toon is right - for a fee (varies) you can redeposit miles. I did this once a few years ago without a problem.

However, if the cancellation is due to weather/natural disaster they will usually waive the fee. If they are NOT flying on the dates you schedule due to hurricane, that is. However, if there is damage and you decide not to go, I think you would pay the fee.

That's rambling ... but what I have gathered at least from Delta.
