4:30 landing, which ferry?

Post by cmw5682 »

We land in St. Thomas at 4:30. Do you think we should take the 6 P.M. ferry from Red Hook or the 5:30 from Charlotte Amalie (assuming it's running)? We want to book Rachel but won't waste our money if we're just going to Charlotte Amalie! Advice please!
Is it June yet?!

Are you checking bags? If you can catch the Charlotte Amalie ferry (and there is one) I'd do that. I much prefer the 40 minute ferry ride to the up-and-down hilly ride to Red Hook. Frankly, I'd play it by ear and not book a special driver.

We were supposed to land at 1:35 pm last Sunday, but didn't get in until about 2:00. 3 other jets landed within about 15 minutes, so the luggage area was ridiculously crowded. We'd booked with Rachael and she kept telling us "we'll make the 3:00 ferry" (from Red Hook), and she was right ... got there at 2:55 and made it.

We're not checking bags so I think I'll not book Rachel and shoot for the Charlotte Amalie ferry! I'll miss seeing Rachel though!
