Today's the day

Post by Bug »

This morning I woke up and instantly started to cry. It was a happy cry. Today I will leave for the airport and tomorrow early AM, I will go home. Or I should say the place that I call home in my heart - STJ. Does anyone else do this? How can an Island stir up this much emotion?

I know it's kind of crazy and my friends and family (except my love who feels the same way) don't understand. I guess in all reality, it's a rock in the middle of the ocean. But to me, it's peace, comfort, beauty, - I could go on and on. It's the one place on this earth that I feel completely like me. Does that make sense to anyone?

I have the same type of life that I'm sure most do on this forum. I have a hubby, a full-time job, 2 kids, 2 dogs, and all the responsiblilies that go along with that suff. I literally wait all year for that 1 week on STJ. If you ask any of my co-workers what my goal in life is, they will tell you the same thing - "Michele's goal in life is to move to STJ and grow dreads". Simple, but true...and kind of funny.

I guess you have to experience STJ to it. You have to be there and see the God given beauty and realize that the "things" we work so hard to have, don't really mean crap in the whole scheme of things. Don't get me wrong, I do work so my family and I can have all those "things" and it affords me the life style to be able to visit STJ. But, I know could live without all that stuff if I had dreads. Think of all the money I could save - giving up shoes, cloths, and jewlery for dreads. LOL

I still haven't packed a darn thing. This in unlike me - I am an organizer and planner. I keep telling everyone, it's ok, I'm already on Island time. This morning I woke up at 5:30. I NEVER wake up before 7 except in STJ. I guess I really am on Island time already :D

So I guess what I'm trying to ask is....does STJ affect everyone this way? Am I normal?

Michele, We completely understand....I think we've all been affected in the same way. Yes, you are definitely normal, at least by my definition. Have a great time! Ali~

That's a great feeling- I'm glad you can embrace it! Things like that aren't meant for everyone to understand, anyway. And thank goodness for that!

I feel the same way too! I have 49 days to go.
I can't wait to go with you and the others in November.
You are lucky that your hubby feels the same way and that you have someone to share that with.
What is our countdown until November?

You almost made me cry BugBlu!! I love to hear people be so passionate about the VI's -- and also passionate about getting their priorities straight!

Have a great trip! We'll be waiting for the reports!

Get a nice tan around that belly ring too :P

YES, you are normal...STJ is a magical place...as soon as you step off the ferry into Cruz Bay!

In reality though - you would still need money - even if you had dreads! You would still need stuff like shoes, cloths, and jewelry but you would have to change your color scheme to RED, GREEN, AND BLACK.

Have a wonderul time during your stay in Love City :!:
Peace,
