Rum Punch Recipe?
I am now T minus 2 days for departure and was a post in the Cigar thread got me thinking about mixing up a nice rum punch and limin' by the pool (preferably during the kids nap time).
Anyone got a good at home recipe? Other easy cocktails would also be happily accepted.

Googled and found this...

I'm sure there are tons of great recipes out there..
I tend to like mixtures with rum, fruit juice, and maybe some coco lopez, etc..

Last week I brought some of those dink mix singles in orange flavor along. I mixed the drink mixie with water, added an equal amount of pineapple juice, and whatever desired amount of Cruzan coconut. Yum....
Side note: I always keep the Cruzan in the freezer. It doesn't freeze, but is super cold so whatever drink I make doesn't "warm up" too fast when I make it.

So funny to read this! I have researched (read consumed) many rum punch recipes while at home searching for that perfect island libation... my favorite is from Blanchard's "A Trip to the Beach Cookbook" which calls for fresh squeezed lime etc... However, when I was first on island we too made a punch from the canned "fruit punch" mixed with pineapple juice and whatever cruzan rums (usually several) that tickled our fancy that day. To this day while on island, nothing quite hits the spot like a canned fruit punch, rum punch. No recipe used (or needed) Pour juices and rum together, stir, serve over ice, top with grated nutmeg. Boom. Island perfection.

I'd like that recipe. Would you please post it? After reading some of the drink recipes on this site I finally bought my very first can of coco lopez last weekend and am just waiting for a recipe so I have a reason to open the can.SOonthebeach wrote:I'm a big painkiller girl (have the recipe memorized- let me know if you want it), but that rum punch sounds great- will have to try it!

No prob! Here's the painkiller recipe, and a "lighter" alternate I also make. This works for 1 drink (I use a shot glass) or for multiple (I use a measuring cup)
4 parts pineapple juice
1 part orange juice
1 part Coco Lopez (I scoop out the hard stuff out of the can and only use the liquid)
2 to 2.5 parts Pussers rum (another dark rum, like Cruzan dark, can be substituted, but Pussers is the original- I like it best)
mix all and pour over ice. Add fresh grated nutmeg on top. Viola!
In the lighter version, I substitute coconut rum for the Coco Lopez and decrease the amount of dark rum. Taste is slightly different but still really good!

Hey all,
The canned fruit punch is not a brand I recognize, it's not HP and the brand might have been different every time and we don't notice. The first time we were looking for a cheap mixer and the fruit punch was 1.99 so we figured why not!
To the person who asked if it freezes solid, it gets pretty solid, but not all the way, it's just slushy by 10:30 and we like to keep putting it in the cooler when it's slushy so we can have "frozen" drinks at the beach. I do like squeezing a lime in it if we decide to put those in a baggy to take with us!

Here is my recipe: First, buy a gallon of orange juice. Pour half of it in a pitcher to drink for breakfast. Fill the rest of the gallon with pineapple juice. Pour in some grenadine to give it that reddish/orange color. Shake well...this your your mix. Take a glass with ice and pour 2 fingers (or more) of Cruzan coconut rum then add your mix. I always top mine with a floater of Cruzan dark. Enjoy!
