Other Kenny Chesney songs

Post by WaterLemon »

Hi Folks,

This post kind of follows up the thread from a few weeks ago on everyone's favorite STJ soundtrack. (BTW, that was a great thread that I gotta get back to and create a new STJ mix using some of those good suggestions.)

My wife and I have been big fans of the the "one" KC album for years now (Be As You Are). It's always a welcome soundtrack while we're on island as well as when we are back here in New England daydreaming about our favorite place. My question is: are any of you familiar with other KC albums, or specific tracks, that also are STJ-ish? I also have his album "No Shoes No Shirt No Problem" (I bought it based on the cover, thinking it was the STJ album!). It's ok... I'm not a huge fan of modern "stadium" Country music but prefer quieter, more reflective songs such as those found on BAYA.

So, any recommendations on other songs or complete albums I might consider tracking down?

Thanks, and oh yeah by the way, we leave in just over two weeks!!

Gotta love 10-2...My wife does that too...I'm a 10 after some Rum but in the morning I'm a 2...LOL

Probably one of the best songs on the Lucky old Sun album is 'The Life'...He meets Jose' and laments he wants his Life..."to just fish, play my guitar, have a few drinks with my friends...go home to my wife and and pray everynight that I can wake up and do it again"

A great lyric and message

All of the above, and two more favorites are 'When the Sun Goes Down'..."When the sun goes down, we'll be groovin', when the sun goes down, feelin' alright, when the sun sinks down, over the water, everything gets hotter when the sun goes down!"

And my personal favorite, 'No Shoes, No Shirt, No Problem'

We also love'Beer in Mexico'...location is different but the sentiment is the same - 'sit right here and have another beer in Mexico, do my best to waste another day. Sit right here and have another beer in Mexico, let the warm air melt my blues away'

That album "Be As You Are" is the reason why I now love and dream of the Islands.

I had never heard of those Islands that Kenny sang about on that album but I thought that if places like that actually did exist then surely I needed to check them out for myself.

I know he gets alot of flack for bringing such notoriety to STJ but if it wasn't for his songs about the Islands I wouldn't even have known they existed and now those Islands fill my mind with daydreams of all I've experienced down there and all that is yet to come in the future.

Already encapsulated in the album Be As You Are: Soul of a Sailor; Sherry's Living in Paradise and Island Boy.

From Lucky Old Sun: Way Down Here
From NSNSNP: On the Coast of Somewhere Beautiful

CMW5682: I got 12th row tix today too. He plays Vancouver for the first time ever on my birthday: July 20. Seeing him in Pittsburgh on July 2 (Row 26). Yah, I'm a fan! I owe my love of the Islands to Kenny and his Be As You Are album.

Hey, I just wanted to thank everyone for the suggestions on this thread. I've been really enjoying "Lucky Old Sun" for the past week; it's getting me right in the mood to get on our planeride south over the warming blue-ing water! Which will be THURSDAY!! Can't wait :-)

Now I gotta keep my eyes open for the Hemingway's Whiskey album...

Thanks again for the music help!
