HOGWASH Tom! So what if you passed me on the top 10. It's ok, I'm not bitter or anything! Feel free to post all you want, yeah, that's it, keep it up!waterguy wrote:I just want to say I'm sorry if I post to much but you guy's make lonely nights go by so much faster.
Tom
But if you are feeling guilty or anything about surpassing me I know a way to fix it ... you can buy be some drinks on STJ!
Hey Kellyanna,
I was going to do a seperate post but I wanted to say THANK YOU!!!! I got my coolies/coozies today.
To everyone else too:
I am on a few other boards and there is no forum like this forum. I feel so loved and I don't know any of these people in "real" life. I am usually a loner, often by choice but I feel my crass and immature sense of humor is appreciated here and if not feel free to tell me. Nothing I admire more than honesty. I too, thought the board was cliquey (sp) until I decided I should just join in.
Now, I actually was going to start a thread titled "This forum is turning me into an alcoholic" (as a joke). I guess that's not funny now? I have known many alcoholics and I am not an alcoholic. This forum is my release from the day, it is my way of making sure I don't forget to slow down and enjoy life. I rarely get drunk, it's too hard on the body the day after and I hate getting e-mails after my cousin's wedding saying that the hall would like us back to entertain at every wedding
BTW, Poo jokes are always funny

When will I see St John again?

Didn't want to jump in, but I need to defend Betty. She is definitely not the nastiest nor the meanest person on this or any forum that I have come across. She has offered advice and input in a productive and fun manner and I for one am happy to have her here as part of my forum family as I am all of you (new, lurker, or "old-timer").

I was actually thinking the same thing. I will be going on the "six on the beach" STJ tour with her in November and have talked to her a lot via e-mail. She is great and far from being a nasty person. I can't wait to meet her in person.

There's only one person on this forum regularly that I know. All the others I've come to know and like through their posts. If they are obsessed with drinks they are also obsessed with food. I don't have time to count all the food porn and the drink recipes but they may be about equal. These are good people who have STJ in common and have found new friends on this board. We welcome all newcomers. We look forward to trip reports, they bring us back to our time on STJ. Some post more than others, some post short responses to each other, some post great advice, some like to banter about( all in good spirit). We like to track each others trips and provide solace for each other when there is a problem that besets a forumite. We pray for each other. I really think that we are obsessed with each other.

Cal. Girl,
On page 6 Betty was called nasty.
Where did it say that waterguy posted too much? I missed that.
I'm done with this thread. I shouldn't keep bumping it up.
It is starting to remind me of something on a differeent forum when CG PM'd me and told me about this forum.
I love this forum. I want to keep it that way.

I wasn't going to respond to your offensive post earlier this morning because I thought most would just ignore or dismiss it. Yet the people of this forum welcomed you regardless of your insults, that should tell you what type of place this is. We are a group of people, with a common interest/St John, that have become friends. If your only contribution to this forum is going to be to antagonize and make derogatory observations maybe you should go to one of the other forums and take Tortolla with you!
To which Melanie replied:
I don't feel I was being either offensive or insulting to anyone here, Betty. You, however, are clearly the nastiest, most unwelcoming person I've ever witnessed on a message board. Most everyone except you, has expressed their opinions in a friendly way. They have even helped to opened my eyes to see thier perspectives. I am the first to admit that what I thought, may be wrong.
California Girl asked:
I don't understand why you feel the need to defend Betty. She didn't say anything bad did she? It seems to me she was defending all of us! I've been reading this thread all day and I don't remember anyone calling her nasty. What did I miss?
Personally I was impressed with the forum's good natured reaction to Melanie, until the remarks made by Betty....imho, Betty's post did come across as rather mean spirited. Simply an objective observation, since I don't know either one of the ladies....mia
