Calypso Cove - Fish Bay

Post by greyhoundmom »

Anyone stayed at Calypso? Looks like a rocky beach to bay. What is the snorkeling like in Fish Bay? We will be there in June for 9 days. My only concern might be lack of breeze since close to the water. I like the fact that there are 2 kayaks that we can use. Any info would be appreciated! :D

I am alson interested in feedback. I have kept it in my wish list folder for five years. The outside areas and cottage style appeal to me.

I also like the cottage feel and the more old school island look. I think StJohnJulie might know about this cottage and the layout? I read somewhere on an old post that the National Park guys said Fish Bay was/is a baby shark nursery? If so, is it safe to snorkel? I'm probably just being overly cautious but I have two younger people with me.

I have stayed at Calypso Cove, but it was a while ago - I think 2007. The bedrooms on the lower level are not accessible from inside the house. The layout worked ok for us, as it was 2 couples and no kids. The screened porch was nice - but the wall is a little too high and you can't see outside while sitting down (well, maybe if you're taller you could, lol!) We did not snorkle the bay, but we did use the kayaks and that was a lot of fun, even if you're just tooling around in front of the villa. There were no breezes, but the bedrooms had ac which worked out ok (we were there in Feb/March). The bugs were pretty bad in the evening and I have a bad reaction to the noseeums (think welts up and down both legs -ugh!). But the house is cute and overall we enjoyed our stay there - quite a different view than we were used to.
