The Club

Post by StJohnRuth »

Is there a club now?
I've been kind of busy lately and I have not been keeping up, I guess.
What is this "Club" which has been mentioned here?
Has my membership been lost in the mail?
What's up with that? I'm feeling very left out!

I didn't get an invite to this mysterious "club" either. Geez, I feel so left out. :?

What's the old saying? Any club that would have me as a member is not worth joining in the first place. Or something along those lines.

I only referred to it because someone else did, but to this day, I can't find the original post that referred to a "club." Guess my invitation got lost in the mail, too! :?

*Edit:

Found it. It's on pg. 1 of the "What's wrong with St. Thomas" thread.

"There was a serious mention of a "club" that very few of the other loyal posters are not a part of, so maybe that group would enjoy their own expression on a forum dedicated to their back slapping camaraderie?"

But I don't know where the original "serious mention" was.

Groucho said, "I would never join an organization that would let someone like me join."

I was informed of the 'Club' by someone named Pete or ? Mr. Marcia? on Oct 28 2010 in a thread called 'Grande Bay ongoing'
-- I wasn't sure how anyone got to be a member but I think it had to do with developing condos on the STJ waterfront and how nice and convenient it is and more is better and that if you owned one you were a great visionary - since the Grande Bay threads often go astray I only ever wish them luck and hope that their success inspires more off island developers to "improve" the Cruz Bay skyline with this type of much needed aesthetic accommodations.

Oh, that isn't at all what I thought "the club" meant! I thought it referred to some of the "old timers" on the forum who have developed more personal relationships. :|

I did my best to stay out of that Grande Bay discussion, so I misunderstood the correct definition.

Exit...here is how that thread went. Tracy and Juice had just purchased a condo at Grande Bay. Of course, once the very words, "Grande Bay" appeared, many rose to vilify Tracy and Juice.

I consider these people friends and was not about to let them take flak simply because the place in which they realized their dream of ownership (Grande Bay) is a flash point on this forum. So, I came to their defense.

Some person named Toes in the Sand responded with words to the effect of, "what, is there some sort of a club?" I suspect that person was asking why I was defending Tracy and Juice.

I sarcastically responded, "yes, there is a club."

Truth be told, there is no "club." But, there are those of us who go back a long time on this forum and there are those of us on this forum who actually know each other in real life...not internet life. There is a bond. Twist it to the negative and call it a club, if you like. But, it is what makes this forum what it is.

Missed the memo on "the Club" too, but I heard rumor that only Sneetches with stars on their bellies are allowed on St. John.

Ruth, do you sell stars at St. John Spice? I've been looking to upgrade.

Also, I've petitioned Anthony to start a "Sandy Spit Lovers Only" forum because I'm getting really tired of all the people complaining about the lack of 5-star restaurants there.
