Why can't we be Coral Bay people?????
We just aren't. We love being close to Cruz Bay and spend most afternoons and evenings there but...there is always a but...we booked flights and they were insane. Higher than we have ever paid, so the villa budget is smaller and we just can't seem to find a villa with a pool that fits such a small budget. I would really prefer a private villa, but may have to compromise with a condo.
If we were Coral Bay people, we would have more options.
Why is this part always so hard?
Ok done venting....thanks

That's a good question. Why aren't you Coral Bay people?
What if you threw caution to the wind and tried Coral Bay this time? The commute to Cruz Bay is not so bad, and you don't have to go every single day.
There is plenty to do around Coral Bay. Have you ever been to the East End? I am a bit partial, but it's my favorite part of St. John.
This seems like an opportunity for you.

Of course I have been to the East End, I have been all over the island as a former Realtor. I am familiar with entire island but when I am visiting, I just like Cruz Bay better.
I like to finish my evening at the Quiet Mon or the Beach Bar. I do not want to have to drive back to Coral Bay every day. I like meandering through town, just checking out people.
Plus I do all the driving when on vacation and I don't want to make that drive every night.
We know what we like, thankfully the island has options!

Technically, we're "not Coral Bay people" either. But all that means is we are addicted to eating out every night and can't do without hitting several Cruz Bay restaurants on a regular basis. That said, we love the beaches on the Coral Bay side and won't plan a visit to the island without hitting Skinny Legs and Miss Lucy's.

I love Coral Bay but after staying on our boat there for many years and going back and forth to Cruz Bay, it got very tiring. I prefer to stay in Cruz Bay and wish that we still had our condo there. I miss it but a very wonderful couple now own it and that pleases me.
I'm with you xislandgirl. If memory serves me right you are well acquainted with Morgan Point. I'm sending you a pm to tell you something about it.

I love the community of Cruz Bay, as so many other forum family members do, but I prefer Coral Bay.
It's my 41 year old reality check,-
" If it's too loud, you're too old!"
As much as I can dig great bands & nightlife, I'd rather be on the Coral Bay end. "Sunny side up" in the morning, sil vous plait, then follow the sun towards the North Shore beaches.
I work behind a bar for a living, so on vaca I'd rather get away from it all and enjoy jammin' to music, drinkys, and grilling good food on the patio over Coral Bay.
So much fun on either end, but I also, like mricco & others, LOVE letting any/all stress "fall away" as we recognize the chilly groove at Aqua Bistro & Shipwreck.
The only traffic jams, as you know, are from goats, too. I have no problem letting them find their way around my weekly Jeep rental(-hell they'll be there longer than I will!), and it reminds me why I choose to go to STJ. To slow down...
I just love the way Coral Bay holds such delicious sanctuary. Away from it all, almost.

My husband isn't a "Coral Bay person" at all. I personally would like to stay on Coral Bay. But I have a feeling we'd end up doing a good bit of driving over to some of "my" favorite spots in Cruz Bay anyway, so I never try too hard to convince him to stay in Coral Bay.
And I know what you mean about airfare. We went last November and I just booked our tickets last Saturday for this July and they were almost double what we paid last time, really added up for the 4 of us.
