Lucy-

The only difference between this new forum vs. the last forum is the lack of negativity. There were a lot of fights and personal attacks on the last forum.

This forum welcomes everyone and their likes and dislikes. No one was attacked during the Over- Under- rated thread. On the old forum, opinions not popular with the group were blasted.

If you don't like a certain thread, be it about drink recipes, beach bars, nekkidness, etc, just skip it.

No need to ruin everyone else's fun.

This was sent to me just after I left the Forum and your thread. Maybe it was a sign, premonition or whatever but worth the read.

Why Parents Drink
A boss wondered why one of his most valued employees had not
shown up for work and had not phoned in sick one day. Having an
urgent problem with one of the main computers, he dialed the
employee's home phone number and was greeted with a child's
whisper.
"Hello."
"Is your daddy home?" he asked.
"Yes," whispered the small voice.
May I talk with him?"
The child whispered, "No."
Surprised and wanting to talk with an adult, the boss asked, "Is
your Mommy there?"
"Yes."
"May I talk with her?"
Again the small voice whispered, "No."
Hoping there was somebody with whom he could leave a message, the
boss asked, "Is anybody else there?"
"Yes," whispered the child, "a policeman."
Wondering what a cop would be doing at his employee's home, the
boss asked, "May I speak with the policeman?"
No, he's busy", whispered the child.
"Busy doing what?"
"Talking to Daddy and Mommy and the Fireman," came the whispered
answer.
Growing more worried as he heard what sounded like a helicopter
through the earpiece on the phone, the boss asked, "What is that
noise?"
"A helicopter" answered the little whispering voice.
"What is going on there?" demanded the boss, now truly
apprehensive.
Again, whispering, the child answered, "The search team just
landed the helicopter."
Alarmed, concerned, and a little frustrated the boss asked, "What
are they searching for?"
Still whispering, the young voice replied with a muffled giggle:

"ME."
Thank you Bob for my BIG laugh of the day. :)

OK, Lucy, where did all of that come from? A forum of insiders? No witty banter anymore?
I'm not a part DBFT, but I don't feel excluded. I don't like any commitments when I travel to STJ. and even getting together with other forumites for a drink would be a commitment.
I think that this is about as easy going, accepting forum group as you'll find anywhere. We/They answer the same questions of newbies patiently over and over. We do have some days where we get off the beaten trail, and yes there are some somewhat personal exchanges at times between posters. So what?
Melanie's post this morning opened up a spirited thread, that was mostly pretty civilized, and I think most of us found it humorous.
I just don't get where your seemingly hostile post came from. Sorry we upset you, but I'll get over it. I hope you do, too.
Peace & Harmony, JT

Hey! Back on topic, people.

I will admit to all who read this that not only do I enjoy drinking, but I enjoy drinking A LOT. Especially painkillers. Especially on STJ.

There I said it.

Big deal.

Betty wrote:I wasn't going to respond to your offensive post earlier this morning because I thought most would just ignore or dismiss it. Yet the people of this forum welcomed you regardless of your insults, that should tell you what type of place this is. We are a group of people, with a common interest/St John, that have become friends. If your only contribution to this forum is going to be to antagonize and make derogatory observations maybe you should go to one of the other forums and take Tortolla with you!
I don't feel I was being either offensive or insulting to anyone here, Betty. You, however, are clearly the nastiest, most unwelcoming person I've ever witnessed on a message board. Most everyone except you, has expressed their opinions in a friendly way. They have even helped to opened my eyes to see thier perspectives. I am the first to admit that what I thought, may be wrong.

Wow, just read through all 6 pages, it's been a very busy day. I can't remember the last time I laughed so hard. I can't honestly provide to much of a response, because frankly I don't feel that I would need to justify to anyone, except maybe to my husband, the amount of alcohol that I do or don't consume on island, or anywhere else for that matter. However, I do have one comment: With reference to the line from the original post, "And I certainly don't want to come off judgemental or offend anyone, but I find it pretty sad." I feel that finding it "pretty sad" is judgmental and offending IMHO. Ali~

BOB - That was TOO funny, I've already copied it to send to friends!! Thank you for a great laugh!

There are NO CLIQUES on this forum, just a bunch of DRUNKS!! JUST KIDDING.............

This is without a doubt one of the most WIDE OPEN and FRIENDLY bunch of folks I have ever encountered in one place! I found this forum 3 years ago; was welcomed then and feel welcome now. The group has changed, people come and go...............then they come back again! I feel comfortable enough with the folks on this forum that I wouldn't hesitate to meet up with any one of them if I happened to be in their town. I am not an "insider" or .......... OMG I feel like I'm back in High School. I'll shut-up now.

Vacations and drinking really do kind of go together, but I don't think anyone on this forum is "over the top" with it. Obsessed with STJ and limin', yes....

I welcome you to the forum too Melanie and hope you'll post again, this crazy bunch would like to get to know you. :P

Am I wrong to say this is much more exciting than the 10 billionth ""Which Villa is Better" thread?

Oops - almost 5pm here - time for my nightly cocktail!!!

I find it interesting that people like Lucy only seem to come out of the woodwork when they can rag on someone. We all post some pretty silly stuff, but certain people (like Lucy and Tortola, for instance) only show up when they want to flame someone! How about welcoming newbies and helping out with a villa suggestion or what to wear to dinner sometime? If you can't be fair and reasonable, why waste others time with your negative garbage? Crawl back into your hole and go back to lurking. Jeeezzzz! What a wet blanket you are!

MY GOD I don't want to respond to this but I just can't help myself. I certainly feel like this is a family where I share more than just a travel recommendation or two, perhaps I shouldn't be such an open person.

Deep in my soul I do not feel like this is a cliqueish place where only the cool kids fit in. I am sure we are all so different that we might not even speak in our everyday lives, but I have found some GREAT and I do mean GREAT people here. When I needed them or whenever they need me, we have each others backs.

I just have to say if it weren't for many of the notable regulars this would be a pretty quiet forum. You are absolutely right, Ca Girl (we're still on for that drink in Jan?), either contribute here in a positive and respectful manner or move along to another forum.

CA Girl

Me thinks that Tortola and Lucy are people who already have other primary logins and they only use those when they try to stir up trouble. Especially Lucy - all her posts are negative and she's only posted 7 times in a year? I don't buy it.

PS I am having a nice cruzan and diet right now, btw. Tough day at work, ya know!

Ummm, a coworker of mine gave me some homemade rum he's been working on for weeks (months, maybe) before I left today.

Did I happen to say I believe in coincidences?
