Does the Smoothie Shack Close?

Post by Teresa_Rae »

We're planning a summer trip that will possibly extend into September and I'm wondering if the smoothie shack on Ajax Peak closes for the season like many restaurants?

I would be devastated without my almost daily mango smoothie.

Thanks!

They usually do close for a short period during time of year you said you will be there. Keep your fingers crossed they will be open!

Does the Smoothie Shack Close?
When it rains!
Sorry, don't know about September but I know he kinda makes his own hours. We rented Bayview which is a short walk from the stand and missed him a couple of times because he didn't open in the rain.

We were on Mamey Peak in early October and the Shack was closed. There was som action there one day, but they were just getting prepared and were not open for business. It was definitely a bummer, but i can understand it. The Island was pretty quiet at that time.

Silly question, but where exactly is the "smoothie shack on Ajax Peak"? My on-island geography isn't the best yet.

By the way, from St John to Phoenix ... that's quite a change, puddlejumper!!

Colombo's Smoothie Shack is a semi-permantly "parked" van on Centerline at the intersection of North Shore.
Or you can think of it this way, it is on Centerline near the top of the hill above Coral Bay.

I just moved from one beach to another. So I am told. Still looking for the blue water. Anybody seen it around here, can't find it.

Thanks "toes in the sand". We'll be on the lookout for it in a few weeks.

"Puddlejumper", we have a place in the East Valley that's about 20 minutes from Saguaro Lake. Lots of watersports, but I don't know about beaches and the water's not all that blue either.

Stampede Chuck, I am actually in Queen Creek. Plan on spending a lot of time at Saguaro. All this sand around me and no beach. lol.

California Girl, Powell is on our to do list. It is just a bit too far for a day trip.

Missing that Smoothie van. Last time I was there, donkeys came running full steam down the dirt path just next to the van. They ran right between the road and the van. One stopped. It was the dark haired baby. Stayed long enough to get some attention from my group that was visiting from NC. Great memory.

Great shot, the road running behind the young lady at the stand is Centerline headed up to Bordeaux Mtn. and the wide spot in the road is the intersection of North Shore road that will take you down to Annaberg and Leinster.

Stampede Chuck, you will likely get asked if you want your smoothie "St. John Style"...which means with rum. I actually prefer them without, I could live on virgin mango smoothies from the smoothie stand...though some days they are better than others, depending on who makes it.

Also, a word of advice, make sure to pull completely off the road when you stop. It can be tricky because there isn't a lot of parking but lots of people leave their vehicles half in the road and rightfully so get scolded.
