A newbie here w/questions

Post by deweynet »

Hi,

I'm heading down in April (12-20) to get married. We are staying on STJ (also getting married on STJ) for the first part of the trip and then going over to STT for the rest of the time. Neither one of us have been to the islands before. We wanted a beach wedding and wanted to somewhere "exotic" that we didn't need passports. And we didn't want to go to Hawaii.

We are staying in a condo in Cruz Bay and a condo in Sapphire Bay. So here are some questions. Where is a good place for my fiancee to get her hair, etc. done for the wedding? Anyone know of good photographers? I would like to do a sailboat thing after the wedding (we wanna do a daytime thing). It will be just the two of us.

I'm reading the forum. Lots of great info. I'm sure I'll have more questions.

Thx for reading my ramblings...

Photographer for wedding

Post by inuny »

St John is a beautiful place to get married. I was married on an island too-Staten Island! Bob Schlesinger of www.tropicalfocus.com is an excellent photographer and does a lot of weddings (see his website). He just did the photos of my villa.

I second bob schlesinger at tropical focus--he did photos for us that i really love and he was very affordable as well--
in terms of boats--what are you looking for--you cannot go wrong with Phil Chalker on wayward sailor--he snorkels with you is incredibly knowledgable and is just a great guy--on the other side of the island you cannot go wrong witih Rick and robin on 'long distance' they are wonderful-- (and Robin really knows her sealife as well)
i think that you probably can't go wrong wtih anyone there!--sorry i cannot help you with hair--
and congratulations on your wedding--we honeymooned on STJ and renewed our vows there as well--all i can say is that it's great foundation for a marriage!
< leaving on the 22nd of march...but too lame to figure out the ticker thing again!>

Captain Phil is great but I would also consider Kekoa

As for hair - try Grapevine Salon

or Drift Away Spa

Enjoy!

I third Capt. Phil! Don't know about hair, we just relax with such things like hair and makup while on island, but then agian we wern't having a wedding. You will love STJ!!! Of course I love it, but I had some frinds go to another hot shot Island resort with disasterous results on their honeymoon, and heard about STJ half way through. They transfered over to STJ and the trip went from awful to wonderful.

Thanks for the replies. I will look into all of these. The captian marriage then sailing around idea might be just what we want.

Just curious why you are starting on STJ then going over to STT? I would suggest staying on STJ the whole time and if you want to go check out STT then just take the ferry over..
