Coconut vodka drinks

Post by kristen1206 »

Since I just purchased a bottle of Ciroc coconut vodka (Thanks Pia for inspiring me to get a bottle :)), I have been looking for some good drink recipes aside from the Bay Breeze which I think will be outstanding with this vodka. Here are a few that sound really tasty so I thought I would share...

Pirate of the Caribbean

Drink Mix Ingredients:
3/4 oz. banana liqueur
3/4 oz. orange juice
3/4 oz. coconut vodka
3/4 oz. peach schnapps
4 1/2 oz.pineapple juice
Directions:
Build over ice in a tall glass and mix well.

Cocopolitan
________________________________________
Drink Mix Ingredients:
1/2 oz. Cointreau orange liqueur
1 1/4 oz. coconut vodka
3/4 oz. cranberry juice
1 twist. lime juice
Directions:
Combine in a shaker all the ingredients and shake. Chill a cocktail glass, pour and serve with a twist of lime.

Mounds Bar
________________________________________
Drink Mix Ingredients:
1/2 oz. coconut vodka
1/2 oz. Bailey's Irish cream
1/8 oz. Nestle chocolate syrup
Directions:
Pour the vodka into a shot glass, and add the Bailey's slowly so it sits on top of the vodka and it creates a layer. Leave just a little room at the top and squeeze a little bit of the chocolate so it runs through the drink, serve.

I've been dying to ask what it tastes like - have you tried it yet? maybe try over ice with club soda and a lot of lime and let me know if it will be worth it :)

I have not tried it yet Pia but I will tomorrow and let you know. From the description it sounds like it will be super smooth so probably best enjoyed in a simple cocktail.

Scoob...try! why not? That is how drinks are boen :) Sounds like it would be really good! They were out of the pineapple vodka, but I intend to get some of that too!

You know what else might be good...soak fresh pineapple chunks in rum overnight and add to the drinks....

Painkiller-tini:

I've done this using the flavored rums. It works pretty well, except that the pineapple rum IMO isn't quite the right flavor and still needs some pineapple juice to round it out. Shaking with a small amount of Coco Lopez also enhances the cloudiness like the real thing.

I would think that for a Vodka version you would want the drink as clear as possible, so I'd definitely try it without any of the real juices first. I'd also try using Cointreau instead of the Orange Vodka. Just my 2 cents because orange vodka has very strong taste where you really want to accentuate the pineapple and coconut.

I'm not a bartender, but I do play one at home!

Pia...I tried the ciroc with sprite zero and a splash of roses sweetened lime juice over ice and it was very good. Could also use club soda for a less sweet drink.

Try pineapple infused vodka or rum. It is easy to make and tastes incredible. Cut up a pineapple in chunks - no need to remove the core unless you are brave and want to eat the leftover pineapple later. Put the pineapple chunks in a glass jar, cover with vodka or rum and let sit for about 10-12 days. Make sure the jar is sealed and do not open.

We used the pineapple infused vodka and then blended with vanilla vodka and coconut rum. Makes a great martini that is so easy to drink that you really have to be careful. The pineapple infused alcohol is sweet, but not syrup sweet. Plus, it's fun to tell people you have infused vodka with pineapple. It sounds very scientific.

Maybe you could make Lime and Coconut and use coconut vodka instead of coconut rum.

1 oz. Coco Lopez
2 oz. Rose's Lime Juice
1 1/2 oz. coconut rum (or vodka?)
1 glass ice cubes

Run in blender until you have a slush. Garnish with lime slice.
