Yes I deleted the smoking thread -

Post by Anthony »

As one member said:

"Did this conversation really just go this way? "

Come on folks - there was too much nasty in there. Long winter I know - but remember, please let's be civil to one another.

Smoking bans are everywhere - and the although many times the conventional wisdom is that it will hurt whatever/wherever business (usually bars and restaurants) that has not proven out historically.

I am sympathetic to those who smoke, and I also understand those who hate it - and that's about it.

Thanks, Anthony.

I was going to request that you do just that. I did start the thread and it seemed to be going along just fine. When I logged on this morning I was just amazed at the direction it took. It was like going away for the weekend and coming home to see that the kids had had a party and the house was trashed. It was embarrassing to have my name connected with it as author of the thread (even though it's not really my name).

This refreshed my memory of why I stopped coming around here very often.

I noticed that there's a smoking ban thread on the TA forum:

Mature, respectful discussion.

It was a positive thread until a few hours ago. There were, however, some signs and symptoms that it was going bad. I had hope that the storm would pass, but it apparently didn't happen.

wow, missed an interesting one. Maybe we can restart a ranting thread about smokers who throw their butts out the car window.....or people who stay in the left hand lane when not passing someone......or people who stop in the highway entrance ramp.....or...or....I've gone negative!! OMG :D

I hate missing the good stuff. I had read the thread but not since it started to go south apparently. Like Jim said, one could see the potential. It is a hot button subject for some.

Yea it was a fun read. I tried to lighten it up with an infamous Andy moon shot. Probably for the better would have upset a few forum peeps. Hell JT tossed his breakfast over it. Sorry JT if we meet on island sometime I owe ya a breakfast at the Donkey Diner

Yeah, Kirk, and I'll take you up on it. Then maybe we can go over to Skinny's and start a food fight. Jeez, folks,we all need to lighten up! [oops! There was almost a freudian slip there]. Anthony's right, it's been a hard, long winter. Catchers and pitchers start reporting tomorrow. The ground hog didn't see his shadow. We might see spring soon. And for all of you that are going to cheat the remaining winter out of a week, or two, by going to the VI's.... I hate you.

You'd hate California, then! We have stop lights at the end of the freeway entrance ramps to meter the traffic flow. It sucks! It's hard to get up to 65 or 70 from a dead stop to merge into traffic!
