STJ in September?
We have been to STJ in June, July, August, and November.
We're considering a trip in September this year and I'm wondering about the pros and cons. Are there restaurant closings in September? And what is the water like then?
We usually go to STJ during the summer and have been only once during November.
November was my least favorite time to go since the water was a little cold and pretty choppy...I have never been thrown around by the waves in June, July, or August like I have been in November.
Thanks!

I loved September when I was living on island, because of the few tourists. The beaches are empty, villa prices are at their lowest and the water is a perfect temperature. The draw backs are several restaurants will be closed but not all, it is the height of the hurricane season and it is usually hot. So your main decision as I see it, is to plan this with a hurricane before or during your trip. If it is before, how much damage, do you still go? If it is when you are there, do you ride it out and risk being stranded or evacuate? If it is after you are home free! I would do a September trip, but only at the last minute. Like a week out so I can follow the storm predictions.

I like most of the island in September, but it is so darn hot. August and September are just too much for me. The island will be quiet, dining options minimal, water will be warm, and beaches empty but it is not the storms that keep me away, it is the heat.
I went a few years ago at the end August and it was oppresivly hot. When I lived on island, I used to leave for Aug and September and that trip reminded me why.
If you can handle the heat, get trip insurance and go!
