Hotel at STT

Post by ToonMann »

I did a search to find the name of the hotel at the St. Thomas airport (on the left as you enter the airport), but can't seem to find anything.

Can anyone help identify it? Is it a decent place to spend a night?

Thanks.

You are probably looking for the Best Western Emerald Beach. You can find it on their web site by doing an airport search. When you look using the city/state search it can't find the VI. If you chose airport search and type in STT it pops up this one and the BW Carrib. It was not too nice when we stayed there in the mid 1990's. It might be better today.

There are 3 hotels right at the airport. In addition to the one Jim already mentioned, there are the Island Beachcomber (www.islandbeachcomber.net) and the Best Western Carib Beach Resort (www.caribbeachresort.com).

The Carib is the closest to the airport, situated up near the terminal; the Island Beachcomber and the Best Western Emerald Beach (www.emeraldbeach.com) are a little farther down, sitting side by side shortly after you pull into the airport.

I think all are "decent" but none are "fabulous." The beach they are situated on is quite nice though, and they have some decent waterfront bars/restaurants.

If the carib is the first hotel at the airport, right on your right, I would NEVER stay there.

Husband always wanted to try the mexican food there. The bar was ok, but the hotel looked horrible. Run down, dirty. I would have walked right out without even looking at the room. I thought it was that bad.

Maybe they've REALLY upgraded it since we were there about 1 1/2 years ago. If they didn't stay away.

I agree 100%...would NEVER EVER stay at the BW Caribe. I would and have however stayed at the Island Beachcomber and the BW Emerald Beach. Both of these are just down the road form the airport. Very, very close!!

We stayed at the Emerald Beach Resort last year for a night prior to flying out for an early a.m. flight. Thought it was a good deal. I think we paid $149 according to a note I have. Resort was very clean and pretty. Great sand beach. It was fun watching the planes come in and take off. We walked to the airport in the a.m. but we only had carry on. It was a nice way to end the vacation.

2 views of the beach from the room-all the rooms have a straight on view i think:

I agree with all the comments about BW Caribb. I have not been in there since the very first stay on STT in the mid 1990's. We gave them a little slack because they and many others were recovering from huricane damage. It sounds like they never recovered.
