Oh man, I spent a long time wording my reply to this thread but realizing that nothing is secure on the internet thought twice about expressing my feelings about my boss on here.

Let's just say I am trying to turn myself into a "checked out" employee who goes in, keeps my mouth shut (well I do try but am not always successful) and collects my paycheque. Fact is the real bosses do not want to hear the truth of the matter regarding the Big Kahuna they hired to run the place. Ultimately it's their loss as they have had a 70% staff turnover in 12 months and it isn't cheap to train the constant turnover of staff not to mention the cost of losing experienced staff and then to be the talk of the sector about how your company is turning into a sweatshop.

I read this thread out of mere curiosity and I have heart palpitations for you!!! I cannot imagine spending soooo much of my time away from my family and have the discourse in my life that you all are describing. My heart aches for you!! I am fortunate to have a wonderful boss-no it's not perfect all of the time but in my 20+ years working, there have been only one or two instances that I'd have to overcome my feelings and get up and go to work. I wish that for you all and I know it's not always possible but if you can do anything to change it, I pray it does. Life is too short and you spend way too much time with these people to be so unhappy. Unfortunately, the economy is the way it is and lots are people are forced to tolerate situations they wouldn't normally and I feel for you!!

Well, I had to talk with my boss.

A little background. He owns the company. The wife works there and his two sons.

I started out by telling him that I was going to be honest with him and I hoped that he could be honest with me. He wasn't.

He lied about everything. He twisted his answers around. It was really bizarre. I know he knows, that I know, he's lying. I can see it in his eyes and face.

I just can't begin to tell all of you how tired I am of all this crap. I haven't been sleeping and I'm just not happy.

So, I have put resume in with a few companies and I'm waiting to hear.

What I'd really like to do is work with animals, so for right now I'm working at the spca as a volunteer hoping that it may turn into a paying job.

Anyway, that's it for now and thanks for everybodies support. I appreciate it.

I won't comment on the internet but lets just say I feel for ya. I like that idea working with animals as they have no agendas.

I go through a new boss every 4 years it seems. Just as I get them broken in, they retire or move on. Mmmm.

I've had one very good boss in the last 22 years. He left for another district because he couldn't take his boss any longer. I really miss him and we keep in touch.

If you've got a bad boss and he owns a family company, then you have to leave. You will never win.

Connie, trust your instincts and move on. You'll be so much happier. Your health will deteriorate if you don't.

Best of luck...

You simply have to find somewhere else to work. I resigned from my position last week because of a control-freak boss who was highly inconsiderate, sarcastic and in general an unpleasant person. Good at what he does substantively, but a real a**hole. I found a new job and took great pleasure in resigning after less than seven months on the job. I am moving on to a new position where I know the guy I'll work directly for (he was a boss in the past) and I am really looking forward to it. Life is too short to be unhappy. Make finding a new position your #1 priority.

I am VERY pleased to say that my wife was offered and accepted a new position within the same hospital that she currently works for the BossFromH. She was soooo happy to move but then she mentioned that there was one thing she didn't like about the deal. It is a latteral move.
I had to pause before answering. Whats wrong with that? I asked. Latteral moves don't look good on the resume' she told me. I suggested she stay with the BFH until something better pops up then but she needn't bother to come home on the nights she is pulling out her hair because not only is life too short to work someplace you are miserable but life is too short to let someone you love work someplace they are miserable too.
Good Luck Connie. Just keep smiling. It is the best revenge.
