Fish Bay Area Villas?

Post by 2muchsnow »

Have begun the quest for a villa for this fall. Our first 2 choices have booked out quicker than we expected. Found some that intrigued us out in Fishbay area, anyone stayed out there? I know it's about as far out as you can go, I'm assuming it's quiet, is it too far? If you stayed out there, how are the sunsets? Is there cell reception out there?

On another question, anyone found it cheaper to go mid week - mid week for airfare, than Weekend to weekend?

Thanks

We stayed in Reef Bay and loved it. It is a little further out, but it was not really that far, I didn't mind the drive at all. It was so quiet and you could see a million stars at night.
We loved it!

We have stayed in Fish Bay and Reef Bay numerous times and have always been pleased. (It's StJ whats not to be pleased with?) We stay away from the gaggle of villas that have grown into the Fish Bay area from the Chocolate Hole area and look for villas with few neighbors. Got questions on any one in particular?

No it is not too far out for us. Keep in mind that to get to the North Shore you have to drive through Cruz Bay to get there and back unless you find Gifft Hill an alternative.

We stayed at Sol Inclination for 2 weeks last year. Yes the drive is further out but it's a beautiful drive. It's vacation and all a state of mind. If you think the drive is bad, it is. If you enjoy it and plan your days well, it's great.

I don't think we could really see sunset from the villa.

We liked that area - it was quiet and the stars at night were amazing.

Happy planning.

Stayed at Waterfall out in the fish bay area in 2006 beautiful location and definately quiet however at that time cell service was not very good. Verizon's tower is in Puerto Rico so cell service is a challenge anyhow. I believe ATT is the cell service of choice on STJ.

We've stayed in the reef bay area which is farther out and enjoyed it. It does take longer to get into town, but not a big deal for us. Cell wise AT&T worked great for the iPad, verizon didn't work at all for the cell phone. I don't remember that we got sunset views, probably depends on how the house is facing. It's very quiet out in that direction and we don't see many homes which is what we like. Have fun looking!

Thanks for all the info, the group is leaning towards is elysium villa. On the east side of fish bay.

But willing to consider other villa ideas, 2 couples, equal sized rooms/with baths. Pool/hot tub, views.

If elysium is on your list take a look at Second Wind on Reef Bay. They are managed by Caribbean Villas. Three pods. The two outer pods are identical. Pool and hot tub

I understand, I'll keep it a secret. Make a review of a place you like, suddenly you can't get in. Guess it forces you to try new places.

I haven't stayed at Elysium but I have seen it during my searches. I remember it made it into my final picks but got dropped for some reason. If it is the villa I am thinking of, it is on the east side of Fish Bay and pretty low position (altitudewise) putting it close to the water. It was also somewhat secluded. I am pretty sure the name has changed in the last couple of years. I was concerned about lack breezes and no lack of bugs. I forget why this was a concern of mine. Does it have A/C? Good luck with the search and let us know about where ever you end up. I always like hearing reviews of Fish Bay villas.

We stayed at Sol Inclination in 2008, which is at the very tip top of Fish Bay, so it's a pretty good hike because once you get to Fish Bay you have to zig zag your way up to the top. It did add a lot of driving time to that trip.

I'll add a vote for Sol Inclination. We are staying there soon based on positive reviews of the villa and villa manager.
