Lex, have you listened to the Decemberists' new album yet? I downloaded it the other day but have not had time to play it. I heard it is really good.

Tuesday shuffle:

G. Love featuring Jack Johnson: Rainbow
Norah Jones: I've Got to See You Again
Nat King Cole: That Sunday, That Summer
U2: In a Little While
Al St. John's Trinidad and Tobago Steelband: I Wish You Love

All mellow songs today!

I've heard some of it. Sounded hauntingly like REM on some of the songs.
Come see us!

We did get the new Decemberists....(I don't know what to call them when they're downloaded--cd? album?). I like it. More acoustic, more folk than previous. Peter Buck from REM plays on some songs, so yes, that REM sound. Gillian Welch also sings on some.

We'll be seeing them this Friday.

Other nice news is that a new Iron and Wine cd is available today, as is a new Amos Lee.

I’ll have to check out that new Decemberists album – its been getting some good press plus I have been a fan of REM since the Chronic Town EP (does anybody even remember or know what an EP is? Man, I am old)

Another spin:
Augustana – Sweet and Low
McGuinness Flint – When I’m Dead and Gone (forgot that this tune features some kazoo playing)
Bruce Springsteen – Trapped
Mountain – Theme for an Imaginary Western
Jack Johnson – Go On
Bonus: The Kinks – Celluloid Heroes

jmq, I still have a wooden trunk full of EPs, LPs and even some 45s. :D Plus I have all of my Dad's old vinyl, which he gave me when he ditched his record player for an ipod docking system. I even have his numbered White Album with the posters still inside.

I listened to about half of the new Decemberists this morning. If you like the old REM you will definitely like this album.

Friday shuffle:

Camouflage: The Great Commandment (that's a blast from the past!)
Pink: Raise Your Glass
Louis Armstrong: That Lucky Old Sun
Bob Marley and the Wailers: Sugar Sugar
Coldplay: Death and all His Friends
It's like looking in your soup and finding a whole different alphabet.
