Birthday Story

Post by suzi »

Hi Gang- today is my birthday and while we were on-island last week, husband I and went shopping for earrings that I really wanted- little blue aquamarine studs. so we went to all the jewely stores and I found the ones that I wanted at R and I Patton in Mongoose Junc. While on our quest, I "visited" and said "hi" to the necklace and earring set at Columbia Emeralds that I had admired in the window LAST YEAR !!! It was a beautiful beautiful set of different colored sapphires in a very unusual setting. Much too expensive last year, but every day we would walk by that window and admire it. So this year I would say to husband jokingly, " I think I'll go visit my necklace and earrings". ( yes, they were still there in the store at Columbia) It was a joke all week.
Well...guess what I opened tonight for my birthday!!! That necklace and earrings set that I "visited" It is now in my custody!!!! and so when I got the box, I thought I was opening the little blue aquamarines that we had picked out. ( now saving those for anniversary)
He had gone back to Columbia when he went to china Shack for Chinese take out for dinner!!! It had taken sooooooo long for him to come back and when he got home he said that it took forever because they were on island time!!!
thought you would like to hear about my b-day surprise. And of course it is extra special because it is pure genuine STJ Bling!!!

how wonderful for you! I tried on a ring at Columbia last year and their half price price was $800 - hubby thought the price was half of $800 and he said oh just get it! I told him when we were outside that $800 WAS the half price :) HA he was a little taken aback and if I really wanted it he would have been cool with that. Maybe I will go try it on again this year and see if it ends up under the Christmas tree ;)

I think I will read him this story now!

fortunatly for hubby i don't wear very expensive jewelry. I am more of a hippi chick and like the kind of things that I make. I have seen a few items I really like on st john and will definitly get a hook bracelet while we are there. last visit i got a pearl and silver necklace that i think I paid about $45 for. i love it and wear it all the time! it is a round pearl and a rectangular pearl both set in silver. simple and beautiful but I can wear it every day. I got it at a shop on Bordeaux mountain. I can't wait to go back there to see what other goodie I find there.

Happy Birthday, Suzi. Nice story! Your husband sounds like mine. Twice that he has gone down alone to the boat he has come home with some fantastic pieces. Love those keepers!

wishwewerethere wrote:Cat - that necklace sounds beautiful. I recently took a friend to get her hair done and while I waited for her I visited a bead store next door. I had so much fun. I never knew how easy it is to make a pair of dangle earings or that they sold things like pearls at the bead store. I always pictured wooden rough beads in my head. Who knew? I am now addicted to the bead store!
Be careful! I have about 15 boxes of beads now! I go crazy with ideas I dont have time to make! I could probably start a store but have no time to make all that it would take to fill it! I make for my self and a few friends. It is great for gifts too! people like things like that!
