Crown Bay Dock>>>STJ without costing an arm & l

Post by lv2fish »

Hi, We are part time locals, only going to be on STT one day (in March) on business (regretfully), We need to get to STJ quickly without costing us an arm N a leg. We can leave CB dock as early as 8am. The CA Ferry as I understand does not depart until around 10 or 10: 30am if reliable at all, so beyond a private taxi from Crown Bay to Red Hook any other options - traffic couod be a bear from that dstance. In advance thanks all! :D

Disclaimer, we own at Serendip condos - that's where we're headed - just for the day.

get a taxi van - that is collecting passengers for Red Hook only and you are very likely in time for the 9 AM ferry - If the taxi is going to Red Hook it does not have to deal with town traffic - it is $12 pp each way -- no body parts involved.

Where does the ferry leave from Charlotte Amalie each day to St. John? Is it the Crown Bay Marina area?
Thank you

The Charlotte Amalie ferry loads and departs from downtown at the Eastern end of the waterfront - near the USCG dock - it does not go to Crown Bay -- the Westin Ferry does pickup in Crown Bay.

Can I assume the Westin Ferry just goes to the Westin and not to St. John?
Thanks

When you say "part time locals" how many days are you living on STJ - I have been here 6 years and still would not dare call myself a local :) :) :)

Too funny.
Maybe I used the incorrect terminiology,
so I own a condo in STJ (yeah)- just acquired Serendip in mid April 2010. Was in STJ for about 31 days last year, hope to make it more in years to come!
So yes I am loco too when in STJ, nice to know I am not alone.LOL

So what's the more appropriate (local STJ lingo) word I should've used - what do you call folks like us,? We're not really absentee investor/owners per se', if we are absent it's through no desire of our own. We're a "working family" and have full-time jobs here in Maryland. We can't retire until yaer 2013 - ugh. Don't think I can take one more winter here! :( Thanks to all who helped out to my orignal question! :)
