Bucket List

Post by BRY1105 »

I think it's safe to say that if you've been to St. John you've been to Trunk Bay and had a drink at The Beach Bar. What places & activities, other than the usual well-known, have you not done yet.

I have not snorkeled at Trunk but I'm not sure that I really need to.

Henley Cay via dinghy is on my short list for our next trip as well as the Reef Bay hike.

Hike all the way to Ram Head
Get back to Drunk Bay with the kid (assuming it's not flooded out whenever we visit)
Go out with Capt John
See the Petroglyphs again
Snorkel Waterlemon (haven't made it yet)

I have never rented a dinghy.

I have never snorkeled Pelican Rock, Hart Bay (though I've tried--too rough), Grootpan Bay, or Chocolate Hole. I’ve never swum over to Windswept Beach.

I've never hiked anywhere with the exception of the Reef Bay (NPS guided, so downhill only), Leinster Bay, Lind Point, Peace Hill/Denis Bay, Yawzi Point, Drunk Bay, and Ram Head trails. In other words, I have only done the easy hikes.

I've never been to Joe's Rum Hut, in fact I really don't know where it is! I’ve just seen pictures of the bar on this forum. I've also never eaten at Sogos, Shelas Pot, Café Mojo, Cactus on the Blue, or the Turtle Bay Estate House.

I’ve never visited VIERS.
It's like looking in your soup and finding a whole different alphabet.

Never:

-Rented a dinghy
-been to a lot of the out of the way beaches (can't think of all the names)
-snorkeled around the cay at Cinnamon Bay
-camped there
-hiked Reef Bay
-hiked Ram's head
-walked through Annaberg ruins
-Bought greens at Josephine's
-saw Kenny Chesney
-went to Drunk Bay
-went night diving or snorkeling there

There are a lot of restaurants that I have not eaten at either. I don't know the names of all of them.

Never done:

Taken a full year "off" from going to the USVI's.

This will be our first, in something like 12 years. We'll let you know how that goes.

Reason for taking a little break? The bucket list. We really want to see new places. As much as we love STJ and the VI's, we want explore more. We started last fall and haven't stopped.

It's great fun, the bucket list.

Missing St. John. As always.

Last summer I crossed off my #1 bucket list to-do by finally getting scuba certified with Low Key. I had been talking about it and subsequently chickening out for 15 years. Scariest, most awesome thing ever and well worth it! In March we are determined to 1) explore East End and Haulover, and 2) finally get out with Capt. John and Palm Tree Charters. Can't wait!

13 Trips and still want to:

1. Stop at the Tourist Trap, can't talk the women into it.
2. Dive "The Rhone" but because of medical reasons, I have to put that off for another year :(
3.Stay at Caneel for a whole week.
4.Take the ferry over to Jost and stay for a night or rent "Pink House" on White Bay for a week.
5.Be thrown out of the Beach Bar, Woody's, High Tide or Island Blues etc because they were closing and I'm the last man standing/falling, whatever.
6.Rent Cinnamon Ridge or Peter Bay Gatehouse
Last but not least, just move there!
