Restaurant help

I am trying to put together my meal itinerary for our trip and need some info/advice.

For our dinners out, I know we want to dine at Rhumb Lines and was thinking of Asolare for our official birthday dinner.

For lunches, we plan to hit High Tide and Shipwreck.

I would also like to try out Castaways and Sun Dog Cafe. Better for lunch? How about Plancha Del Mar?

Is the bar area still where the Balcony used to be? We loved that spot. Then I'd like to make it to the Beach Bar & Tap Room for drinks (never made it to either last trip). And we'll probably check out Woodies again though during high season it wasn't very enjoyable.

We had just an ok experience at Morgan's Mango so no plans to return there. Lime Inn was good and we may go there for dnner unless there are better options. Probably planning to dine out for dinner at least 3 times and cook at the villa the other nights.

We love Shipwreck and if you've never tried it, Aqua Bistro in the courtyard by Lily's over in Coral Bay is really good too. We stumbled there upon accident during Omar and we've been several other times and enjoyed every meal.

We love The Beach Bar for drinks or lunch. Their drinks and Shipwreck tie for my favorite on island. I really like the food at The Beach Bar for lunch too.

I like a cold beer at Woody's, but it's not some place I have to hit!

We like the Banana Deck for a casual meal. I LOVE their Caesar salad with blackened Mahi.

We had a great meal at La Plancha....or at least I think it was good. Brenda and Capt Jay and Deb may remember better than me

Where is La Tapa? Should I assume they serve Tapas?

one of my best meals on island in a long time was at la plancha del mar--i would totally vote for a dinner there! (actually i am going to spend my birthday dinner there!

Sounds to me like all of the big favorites have been mentioned. Banana Deck,& Rhumb Lines both rock!
Love Uncle Joe's Bbq, and grabbing drinks at the Gecko Gazebo is always groovy, as well.
JJ's for Bloody Mary's if you're on that side, Aqua Bistro on the Coral Bay end,-although I hear the ones at Shipwreck are sensational, too. The conch fritters there are outta sight!
I dig Woody's, but it's not a fave of mine (just a little too crowded for me...rather chill upstairs at Quiet Mon...) aside from the Painkillers there. They're the best, second only to Mic's at the Soggy Dollar!
Hoping to give Maho a whirl for dinner this coming trip. I hear great things about it & the view can't be beat.

Just remember that Quiet Mon does not have food at night.

La Tapa is directly downstairs from Quiet Mon. I really like this place, one of my favorites. I would recommend you add it to your list. They don't have a ton of tapas like you think of for a typical Spanish tapas restaurant, though there are some small plates.

The bar at the old Balcony is still there. It is called Spyglass now. I think they changed the angle of where the bar is located though. It does not face dead on to the sunset like I remember it doing years ago (though maybe that is a false memory).

I actually just meant Quite Mon for a drink so since La Tapa is right there, that would work well.

I do recall a very nice sunset view from the Balcony bar which is one reason we really liked it. Will have to check on that.

I've been fortunate enough to eat at some really great restaurants around the world (my brother and sister in law are both Culinary Institue of America trained chefs - so by default we take food seriously in my family) and I put this up towards the top. I also really dig the atmosphere. I wouldn't consider it tapas at all.

I'll say that and then I'll say this.....the food at the Beach Bar is the best value on the island. I'm a sucker for the tuna bites. I'd venture to say we eat half of our meals there.

I can't wait to try La Plancha Del Mar at their new location in Mongoose Junction. I love their food and their Sangria is really really outstanding. May can't come soon enough.

I agree with others about La Plancha. I can't wait to go to the new location in Mongoose. Key Lime Creme Brulee is the best! Then again I miss Sunday lunch at Banana Deck, make your own Bloody Mary on Sundays. Oh wait, Ship Wreck is great too for lunch or dinner in Coral Bay! You will not go wrong at La Plancha for your birthday dinner. Call them in advance if you have a special request. I know they did special meals at the Marketplace for me more than once.
