STJ with kids Nov 23-Dec 1, pt 2

Post by Kentuckygirl »

Saturday, November 27

We got up early and packed a cooler of fruit, cheese, crackers, and drinks for the beach. We had not been to Solomon, so Lind Point trail to Solomon and Honeymoon was our plan. What a beautiful beach! I took soooo many pictures there!

The boys snorkelled

We stayed a couple of hours then walked over to Honeymoon. The water was fairly rough and the tide was way up, so there wasn't much room on the beach. We sat and watched the boats for a while, then decided to try to find the UK-UT football game somewhere.
Image
We peeked in a couple of places in Cruz Bay, then decided to try Skinny's. We stopped along the way to take pics of Coral Bay from Bordeaux Mountain, then went into a little shop across from Chateau Bordeaux. It's a cute little place. That's where I found my ornament for djmom for the exchange. We finally made it to Skinny's and they couldn't get the game. We ate there again (of course), then went back to CT, where we were able to catch the end of the game, just in time to see our Cats get beat. (Well, we have one Volunteer fan in our family, so he was happy!)
We went to bed very early this night, knowing we had a big day to look forward to.

Sunday, November 28
We met Capt John at 8:30, filled out a few forms, and were on our way. We had met John on our last trip when we travelled with a group of 16 (two villas, 3 boats on our BVI day).

We checked in at Tortola, then snorkeled the Indians. I really wish I had underwater pictures to post, but my camera wasn't working, so we just used disposables.
The snorkeling there was perfect for everyone to do as much or as little as they wanted. There was plenty to see right everywhere. It was beautiful!
Next stop Pirate's Bight, Norman's Island.

I think this is such a cool little spot. We were early and nothing was open yet though, and we were hungry, so we moved on to the Willie T for lunch.

I was really surprised how good the food was here! I had a mahi sandwich that was incredible. Everyone's food was great!
We had full bellies and were ready to move on to Jost, but not until after a few jumps off the top of the boat.
Image
First stop on JVD, Ivan's. We love that place. Everyone had a ball!

Made new friends, and left #2's baseball jersey

It's always tough to leave Ivan's, but we wanted to stop by Soggy Dollar and Seddy's.
Image
We didn't have much time, then we were back on the boat. Capt John let all the kids drive. They loved it!

Thank you John! We had a great time!

We made it back onto St. John just in time for the forum gathering. It was a very small, but very nice group. We thoroughly enjoyed meeting and talking with these wonderful people.

We had Uncle Joes BBQ for dinner, then crashed.

Looks like another great day! We're planning on doing a day with Capt. John this next trip. We tried to get in a last minute trip with him last year but he was booked.

So...?
Did the ribs at Willy T's beat Uncle Joe's?
Just kidding. Capt. John is awesome, 'eh? Great host.
Such delightful photos, thanks for sharing!
Looks like your children are true STJ waterbugs!
Such fun. That villa looks rockin' too, by the way!
Looking forward to more.

I'm lovin' your reports. Cinnamon Tarn is one our favorite houses. You just can't beat that view and the house is well maintained. The only thing it's missing is A/C but with the breezes up there it's rarely needed.

Thank you everyone!

mahojim, I didn't try the ribs on the Willy T, but my son said he liked them better than Uncle Joes!

Kristen, I've had that hat forever! My sister gave it to me years ago. It's made many, many beach trips!

Diana, We loved CT, and definitely didn't need A/C. It was extrememly windy up there at times.

Yes, Capt John is a great host! 17th hole, you'll have a great day!!

My kids loved the island! I thought they'd "get it", and I'm so glad they did!!
