Rite of Passage

Post by IA Joe »

As I sit here just now, my first taste ever of Cruzan Rum has passed my lips. Nothing fancy, just Cruzan Rasberry over ice.

In anticipation of my first ever upcoming trip to the Virgin Islands in June, I am starting what could be a rigorous 7 week training session. I feel I need to find out which rum drinks I like and which I don't (if any) so that I do not waste any precious island time drinking things I do not like. It is tough duty, but I think I am up to it.

Thanks you all for being there for me as I start this journey.

Strictly in the interest of science, here are some drink recipes.

What a remarkable journey it will be!

I have friends in Dubuque, Joe. Headed there Labor Day, myself. I've never been but I'm thinking it's a WORLD different than STJ. :)

I like Cruzan's dark rum, but I also like their mango rum on ice.

Enjoy your sampling :D

Give the Coconut a try. Good sippin' rum or in a Painkiller with some Captain Morgan. :D

Good job Joe!

I'm right there with you - when I was in an island state of mind last weekend and decided to make mango coladas, it called for light rum. All I had in stock was myer's dark, so I went to the liquor store and Cruzan was on sale - so I took that as a sign!
Come see us!

Good luck with your training! Glad you're taking it seriously and building up endurance so that you can go the distance when it really counts.

I can personally vouch for the Friggen in da Riggen at Foxey's. It can do some serious damage.
