Blue Papaya Trip Report Part 5
Blue Papaya Trip Report Part 5
Part 5 - Sat. Nov. 13th - I woke up SICK - tight chest, coughing, hoarse voice. We had pancakes for breakfast that day and I could only feebly stand by and offer a few pointers to the others who stepped in to do the cooking. Mr Bill and I hit a few jello shots before the pancakes beause they seemed to go straight to the cough center in my chest and stun it for a few seconds. There was discussion on which beach to go to that day and I decided to lay in bed while waiting for a consesus. Someone popped their head into my room to give me the decision and asked if I felt up to going. "Sure, I'll be right there." I croaked and put my head down and moaned a few times. Hubby wandered in at that point, took one look and told the gang to leave without us. He was going to to take care of me. I protested feebly but drifted off to sleep as soon as he turned off the lights and closed the door. I woke up at 1 PM feeling like I'd been hit by one of those guys screaming around the Westin complex on those golf carts at 40 mph!
I wandered upstairs and had a nutrtious lunch of potato chips and two cupcakes because they were sitting on the table in front of me and I didn't have the energy to walk to the refrigerator for anything else. Hubby was parked in front of the TV with the college football games so there went any hope that he would even notice that I was awake, let alone take care of me! I tried reading for a while but my head hurt and I couldn't concentrate so I floated in the pool for a little while hoping that the wild-haired coughing man was burning in hell somewhere.
The group came back from the beach in late afternoon - they had gone to Lameshur. Oh no.... that's one of my favorite snorkel spots!!! They said that snorkeling was still bad due to poor visibility so then I didn't feel quite as bad. I did miss out on a 50-something year old man wearing a Speedo.......oh, darn. (That was said tongue in cheek if you couldn't tell.)
A few of us had been looking forward to attending the Flavors of St. John charity event at the Westin that night, but that idea got scrapped because I was coughing and wouldn't have been able to enjoy the food and wine. I hadn't been out of the villa all days so I went with Hubby and another couple to Margarita Phil's for dinner while the rest stayed home with leftover spaghetti and Sequence. We had awesome Ahi tuna tacos and Margaritas the size of a toilet bowl but I was still wishing that we didn't have to miss Flavors. Oh well, maybe next time. Later than night I drew comfort from imagining the wild-haired coughing man staked to the beach at Salt Pond Bay.......waring nothing but a Speedo...... smeared with honey and being tortured by mosquitos and no-see-ums. Burning in hell was just too good for him!

I haven't commented yet but I have been reading all of you trip reports and I have really enjoyed them. I love all of the details and seeing how others spend their time in st. John. Lameshur is one of my favorites and we didn't make it there this trip either. There will always be next time. I can't wait to read more.
