I LOVE Margaret Furlong and have been collecting for years.
And thank you so much to everyone for help with cocktail recipes, the Pomegranate Martinis were a hit. They were so good, I needed and extra large shaker to make enough. Big enough to soak your feet in.

And remember.....

LOVE Margaret Furlong. I have a tree full of them- I've been collecting for years.

My mermaid bathroom. 'Cause a girl needs a little girly decor in a house full of men.

The Griswold tree. LOL Actually it is our memory tree. Each year the kids get a new personalized ornament and we purchase ornaments on vacations and special outings. It's such a treat to decorate the tree each year and reminisce.

These are from my cocktail party. The first was a decoration on the bar- just a tealight holder that I used an old fashioned frog flower arranger to make a fun floral pieces. The Christmas balls decorated hors d'oeuvre trays.

We did not do as much as usual this year, we just ran out of time. Here are a few from the PA house -
Our tree, we do a three generation mix of oranments, no theme, just a wonderful mix of vacation purchases and family heirlooms.

some STJ ornaments -

This was from our 15th anniversary trip -

from Germany

We have a bunch of those, a number from Germany (pre-husband) and we pick them up each time we find one. I have a couple from Finger Lake wineries. I love the way they look back-lit by lights.
It is always a challenge for us to find sturdy, yet airy trees for the heavier stuff.
Next year I might go old school and do big 'ol c-9 colored bulbs.

What I really like with many of the decorations shown here, is that you use "memory" things. I often do the same, but some of my girlfriends decorate with things which match each other for example everything in gold, silver or lilac. Sometimes the tree is totally different from year to year.It can be very beautiful, but for me, it's not the same as using old things with a "story".

PA girl. Tell your son that it's a great train he has.

I couldn't agree with you more. One of my favorite parts of Christmas is placing our memory filled ornaments on the tree. It can be an emotional time as I think back to Christmases past but it is also a time of thanksgiving. Does my tree have the flawless beauty of a color coded tree? Maybe not, but to me it is the most beautiful tree in the world.

We started cutting down our own trees a few years ago as we had the same problem with over sheared trees having flimsy branches and little room for ornaments. The other bonus is they don't drop needles like the pre cut. We have a great time doing it every year.PA Girl wrote:

My husband has on the kids tree, c-9's old fashioned, bubble ornaments and small colored lights. I bought a cart load of old fashioned lights for him a few years back and he goes NUTS for them. He's a big kid- especially at Christmas.
