Christmas decorations
Christmas decorations
2 years ago I started a topic about Christmas decorations and Christmas trees:
http://virgin-islands-on-line.com/forum ... ight=linne
I enjoyed very much to see the pictures from other VIOL’rs
Does somebody want to show his or her decorations/ trees this year? Could be fun.
I don’t change very much in the decorations from year to year, so my decorations in 2010 are nearly similar the pics in the old topic.
For more than 40 years ago, we found and old tree root and every Christmas since, I have used it for a decoration.
This year it looks so:
<a href="http://picasaweb.google.com/lh/photo/GH ... site"><img src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/_4aSBK_jB-gs/TQSwM ... 070110.JPG" height="600" width="800"></a>
Saturday we had a Christmas party for friends. Here the Christmas table:
<a href="http://picasaweb.google.com/lh/photo/GZ ... site"><img src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/_4aSBK_jB-gs/TQSwS ... 110121.JPG" height="600" width="800"></a>

And some of the different sort of snaps we offered. The small carafes on the table are filled with the another sort - the most popular snaps in Denmark. http://www.aalborgsnaps.dk/composite-72.htm
<a href="http://picasaweb.google.com/lh/photo/JA ... site"><img src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/_4aSBK_jB-gs/TQSwT ... 110125.JPG" height="677" width="800"></a>
Some days ago I really enjoyed the " Christmas decorations” outside my window.
<a href="http://picasaweb.google.com/lh/photo/3k ... site"><img src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/_4aSBK_jB-gs/TQSwO ... 090115.JPG" height="600" width="800"></a>

Hope to see some pics.

My wife loved your tradition of decorating the tree root. I'll post pictures of her handiwork once we finished decorating. I hear Europe is having a very early and hard winter this year. We still have no snow had ice this morning followed by about 5 cm of rain which will ice up our ski slopes.

We had a TV show on one of the cable channels where the gentleman went around the world getting drunk while trying local beverages. He did one on Denmark where he showed the distillery which made the beverage you showed on your link.

My favorite is amaretto.
So have you finished Christmas shopping for all those cute Christmas outfits for the grandchildren?

Sure, Linne, I'll play! We're in a new house this year, and I'm having trouble decorating around the seafoam green walls and blue carpet
,but we have some things put up.
We just decorated our little tree today.

We decorate our tree sentimentally, rather than trying to be decorators!
These ornaments were made by my mother, who died when I was 11. I feel very close to her at Christmas, when I get her things out. These were made from goose eggs:

And these were crocheted by my darling mother in law:

Our new mantel is much bigger than before, so we need to find some larger scale decorations, but:

I, too, like to bring some nature in, and I love trees!

This Cinderella carriage was also made by my mom. I think it was an emu egg:

And she made this nativity scene in an ostrich egg. It has a music box in it!

Alot of mom in our christmas!

No I’m a late starter concerning Christmas gifts. One of the gifts for the boys will be some Lego Star Wars .shoemak38 wrote: My wife loved your tradition of decorating the tree root. I'll post pictures of her handiwork once we finished decorating.
Looking forward to see pics
I hear Europe is having a very early and hard winter this year.
Yes, started in November. But suddenly Saturday it was warmer and most of the snow disappeared.
Now it’s snowing again. I dislike snow because of all the troubles it gives, but I love snow because it’s so beautiful and funny for the children.

I cannot use this link, only for USA, but the distillery in Aalborg, he visited, is the biggest distillery in DK.
My favorite is amaretto.![]()
Amaretto is totally different from snaps, it’s more a liquor. The alcohol percent in snaps is 45

Thank you for the pics. You can be proud of your mother. Really nice things she has done. A good
memory to have. Your decorated branches are just great!

What an experience it must have been to see a Christmas decorated New York. Nice.
I normally prefer Christmas trees without different colours on the lights, but the tree in NY look great.
Linne
I love everyone's pictures so far! My tree is not up yet since I just got back from Florida yesterday, but I will post some pictures once the house is decorated. I can share some Disney holiday deocrations with you though.

It's like looking in your soup and finding a whole different alphabet.

Here is a link to a Christmas light display in Spring Lake, MI not too far from my home. It is music and lights put together by one neighbor. When you drive through you tune your car radio to a particular station so you can hear the music. I think there are 15 homes involved in the display. A little crazy, but fun to see.
They take donations as you enter the neighborhood and give the money to local charities.

Beautiful decorations! My youngest wanted to wait for his big brother to get home from college so we aren't decorated yet. Now I'm inspired!

All the Christmas photos are so beautiful.
Minde, I can only imagine how you treasure the decorations made by your Mom. The eggs are amazing in their detail. I'm sure she put all of her love into each egg.
I love the tree branch ideas too. And NYC and Disney all lit up. Lovely.
This is the first year of my life I am not decorating or putting up a tree. Christmas is depressing for me since my mom died (this is the 4th Christmas without her). This year I discovered it's a lot less sad when I don't have those reminders staring me in the face every time I come home.
But my tree looks the same every year. Here's a photo of it.

The tree, which doesn't change much over the years.

The snow family we built in my parents yard back in 2005 (my Mom's last healthy Christmas). The biggest one was aprox 7 feet tall.
