Changing villa dates

Post by crasherino »

Before we broach the subject with the villa Co. I thought I'd run it past the folks here.

We have a villa rented in February and for certain reasons, it would be extremely helpful if we were able to move our trip until March. I checked the availability calendar and there are certain dates that we could switch it to.

So, that being said, will the villa agency (and owners) have a major problem if we switch our booking til a month later? We are freeing up Presidents Week which will probably allow them to gain an extra rental, if that helps at all.

We will take a bath in change fees on flights, but what are you gonna do?

You have nothing to lose by asking. Vacation Vistas was very accommodating with our change but we were just changing our date of arrival and adding it on to the end and they had the availability.

My husband had a heart attack last year and we had to postpone our trip for a year - the villa owners were awesome (Reef Bay Holiday Villa). They let us change our reservation for this year and gave us last years rates - I thought that was very generous - no he better stay healthy for the next 80 days! PS - American gave us a voucher for the change fees when I wrote to explain why we had to change.

If you are not changing villas I can't imagine that there would be any problem.

isn't there any language to that effect in your contract--if you cancel within X days and we cannot re-rent then X Y Z....?
< leaving on the 22nd of march...but too lame to figure out the ticker thing again!>

As a new owner of a property that we are renting out on St. John, I would have no problem with you changing dates. As long as we would have an opening at a later time and the rates are the same, why not.

Good Luck to you!

Are you paying more for President's week? The reason I ask is that many places charge a higher rate for that week, so they may hold you to that price.

Thanks all for the down low. We are not paying any more for Presidents Week, and in fact got a pretty decent rate. I presume that they would be happy to get the rate we have now and then

I'm just waiting to make sure that we are 100% going to move the trip (or try to) before we call the villa company. I'd hate to ask them to do us a favor and then find out we don't need it.
