Anegada, anyone?

Any input as far as previous trips there?
Thinking about a possible trip for 2012/2013.
I'd hate to "cheat on" STJ, but at least I may keep it relatively local...

I love Anegada, but I do not think I would last for an entire week there.
It is a great change, but in all honesty, I find it a little boring after 2 days.
The people are great, but it is a teeny island and you run out things to do, in my opinion.

Along the lines of what X said, I get the impression from all the trip reports I have read and postings on another (gasp!) forum that is makes a great side trip for a couple of days but the "nothing-ness" starts to wear thin about day 5.

We will get there one of these days.

Ya, would love some Anegada right about now. Neptunes or Cow Wreck are good spots to stay. I like Neptunes because there is a bit going on there. Get a vehicle and check out the island. 3-5 days is enough for us.

Taking the ferry from Tortola or JVD works fine. Taking a charter flight from STT will get you onto Anegada faster than a ferry to STJ. It just depends on whether time or money or more important.

Check out JMQs itinerary. JVD/Anegada/STJ would make a good two week loop.

I have taken a shallow draft 4' -- sailboat and stayed for weeks in Anegada exploring the waters and reefs - snorkeling for hours each day -- a few hours on land each evening for happy hour maybe dinner - and up early and moving the boat each day -- coming back into the Little deep water 9' harbor almost every night.
Rent a car and tour the island -- always something to see, do or find.

Just read JMQ's TR in full. AWESOME shots and great info.
Got it. We're not really sailors, so dipping in for a day or two doesn't seem likely. We like to set up camp and relax for the week, ya' know? It does truly look gorgeous, though.
So, that said, where to stay in VG?

We rented a house at Mahoe Bay. It is a small grouping of houses on or right off the beach. Down the beach was a small cottage resort called Mango Bay (I think).

Next VG trip, I would like to stay down towards the Baths. Guavaberry looks nice and I saw lots of rental houses in the area.

Leverick Bay definately caters to the sailing crowd. The restaurant was good but the beach really suffers in comparison to the other VG beaches.

Gymnastic has experience on VG. I am fairly certain she stayed at Guavaberry a few times. Drop her a PM as the last place her family rented sounded great. She found it on VRBO.

Jim - if you want or need to totally get away from it all, then Anegada can fit the bill. I think when folks say that a week might be too much "isolation" (for lack of better word), most people want a little more variation or options for their vacation in terms of dining choices, other amenities, and "stuff" to do.

On Virgin Gorda, you cant beat Guavaberry. Open up the "Search" function and put "Guavaberry" in there to see what I and others have had to say about it, like Maggy and SuefromMA. Thats how I found this link:
