Saturday, October 24th
We awoke to a beautiful day and could hear the waves hitting the shoreline along with Cruz Bay coming to life.

At this point only three of us ladies were on island, the fourth was to arrive on Sunday. The three of us already here like to exercise and each morning we came up with a plan to get some sort of workout in. Grande Bay has a great exercise room, but I much prefer to be outside if I can.
Today’s plan called for a run from Cruz Bay to the entrance of Caneel Bay – of course we didn’t run the whole way – there are a few rather significant hills! I really enjoyed seeing my friends enjoy the views along the way.
Once we were exhausted and done sweating, we cleaned up and went to the Animal Care Center’s Flea Market to search for some treasures. We each bought something and enjoyed some time in the shade as well with a cold beverage!

After our shopping excursion, we decided that Francis Bay would be the first beach I would take them to – it is one of my favorites and my dog is even named Francis so it seemed fitting! Due to the recent rains, I was concerned about the bugs, but they were no worse than normal. The day was gorgeous and Francis Bay was calm and stunning. We snorkeled some, relaxed some, and just took in the view.

Once the no see ums decided it was dinner time, we packed up and headed into town. Tonight we planned to go to Woody’s “Save 2nd Base” Block party. The streets were barricaded and full of people and we enjoyed a few drinks, some live music and the wing eating contest – it was a really great event and we heard they raised over $23,000 for breast cancer research!

An interesting, but delicious pizza dinner at Café Roma and then we headed back to rest up for tomorrow!
Sunday, October 25
After last night’s indulgences, we needed a good workout this morning. We chose to walk from Grande Bay past Gallow’s and then Mahogany Tree Villas to the top of one of the hills. We decided to do hill repeats – walking up and down as many time as we could. Sometimes backwards….. I know, we’re weird and those living in the area or driving past thought so as well!
After our workout, our day did not include a single beach. Instead we had to go to St. Thomas for some shopping and then off to pick up Lady #4! Upon our return to St. John, we wanted to try and catch some of the Green Bay Packer game and headed to Castaways. We ate dinner during the first half and then watched the Packers win back at Grande Bay.

The crowd is a bit “younger” than us at Castaways, but the food was good and we went back many times for beverages during the week.
Tomorrow – Back to the Beach!
