One week and counting down to first STJ trip

Post by NJsurfsup »

It's been a long time since we booked our trip a yr ago. I have to admitt to being more than a little obssesed with this particular destination. Now that it is so close at hand it's all I think about.
But, alas I have a mountain of leaves to contend with first.
Before i get to work just wanted to run somethings that we are doing in the 9 days we are there by you all and see if you have any suggestions.
Definetly hitting Salomon, Francis , Waterlemon, whistling cay, haulover will try to hit saltpond/blue cobblestone and yawzi.
Dining at Bannana deck, Roma, Donkey diner, Vies, Shipwreck and skinney legs (any of these have good Mojitos and or Mango daqs/Mango Margaritas?
Any beach bar gatherings between 11/19-11/27 we leave for home on the 28th. The forums have been alot of fun and people have been so helpful.
Thankyou

Shipwreck has wonderful fruit drinks and great food!! As a matter of fact, ALL the bars on island have good drinks IMO!! My suggestion - don't overplan, get on island time and go with the flow. Now that you have the obsession, you WILL be back!!!! Have a great trip! 8) [/code]

I remember that pre-first trip frenzy!

My suggestion: Make a list of things (like the one you have) that you'd like to do. That way, if you find yourself looking for something to do, just do one of the things on that list. But don't pressure yourself to try and do everything on the list. You will find things to do and places to go that might not have occurred to you before. So do what's in front of you and enjoy yourself.

It has taken me several trips to do most of the things that were on my original list, and there are still some that I haven't gotten around to - yet.

But there's a whole bunch of stuff we've done (and we typically stay on the move) that wasn't on that list.
Come see us!

Great advice Augie.

I'm a definite "Type A" personality (I'm really nice - just very aggressive to get things done), and after mulitple VI trips, I now find myself just appreciating the time, scenery, and company (it's like an annual honeymoon for wife and me after 27 years!). First few times I tried to control the schedule and do "a lot". Now - we just have our list of beaches and basically decide where to go the night before or the morning of. Ahhhh .... that's what makes it special!

I suggest keeping your list in the back of your mind and go with the flow. Because you are on island time and you are on vacation. If you miss anything on your list. You will be back. Because you will be hooked like the rest of us.

Do not over plan. Part of the beauty of the island is being able to do anything you want to. That includes doing nothing at all and deferring some of the list until the next trip -- or the fifth trip. :)

We have lots of things we want to do, but don't feel any pressure to do them on the next trip. 8)

I suggest you get your books out, refer to a map, and take a driving tour first to get acquainted with your new best friend --St John.

Don't forget to keep left and drink right.

Have a great time! Enjoy and take in the beauty of the island. If you don't accomplish what's on your list this trip you will have a great reason for returning. My favorite place for mojito's is Joe's Rum Hut.

Hi DClapp,
If you see a beatifuly bald dude with a cute curly haired blond and a tall, to cool for school (just a saying folks) 15 yr old boy, that's us. Have a fantastic trip and here's wishing us all some nicer weather. I really feel for the folks who have been there this past week.

You will never scatch the suface...so don't try. We haven't in 10+ trips and are still amazed by what we find we have never done. You could spend 7 days at Hawsnest and no day will be exactly as the previous day...nor will the vibe you get on each different day.....Just let it come to you...and enjoy
