Lake Michigan Beach Cam
Check out the high winds on our Lake Michigan today.
http://www.surfgrandhaven.com/
We are having sustained wind of 40-50 mph. Cool to watch the big waves. The plows are actually out in Muskegon, just a few miles north of where this cam is located. They are plowing SAND from the roadway for the residents who live there.
Within a few months the pier that you see will be a frozen ice structure for the winter.

Thank you for sharing the pictures!!!! It is very beautiful in Michigan...that's why I visit in July
I just couldn't take the long winters any more. Seasonal depression is a killer. I guess I should try and make it up there for a winter trip sometime. My 9 year old son has never seen snow and he really thinks he wants to play in it. I'm pretty sure he'd freeze his little island butt off....but....maybe some day soon.

I'm so glad you posted those pictures! I love the beaches along the western shore of Michigan.
Here are a couple shots from a place that's very near and dear to my heart, a camp in Saugatuck:

There really is nothing like the Great Lakes. Just beautiful. I spend a week over on the other side, Tawas Michigan on Lake Huron, every summer. And another week with my parents over on Lake Michigan (St. Joe) side. Now if the water wasn't just so darn cold! One of my favorite things to do is pick rocks. Such a huge variety of fossils and rocks along the shores. Do you guys collect Petoskey stones????

Julie,
This is a pic of the Betsie Lighthouse. It's located about 35 minutes north of Manistee and this beach is known for finding lots of petosky stones. My friend and I were just there in August and found several. The beach is filled with stones, but they are all round and beautifully smooth from tumbling in the lake. I brought home a bunch of them that are the size of potatoes and put them in a backyard fountain.

This is a pic of some of the landscaping in my backyard. See the big rock shaped like Michigan? My grandfather found that back in the 60's in the White River near Fremont. It was shaped like that when he found it. I love rocks and stones too, so it is a prized posession of mine.

dtenel,
Now you can add another webcam to your favorites and check it everyday in addition to the Spice Cam! It may not always be 85 and sunny here, but we do have something really special still.
I have lived here all of my life and grew up camping and running barefoot on the Muskegon and Grand Haven beaches!
I had no clue you were from Michigan, let alone Jenison. Maybe sometime we should try to do a forum gathering somewhere. I know Jumbiegirl is from Holland.

That would be so much fun to have a West Michigan Forum gathering
I agree that we do have something special, too. Looking at this webcam won't be as much fun as looking at the ones in the Virgin Islands (unless it is when I am in the islands and it is blizzarding here) but I have added it to my list!!
