Which side of the plane to be on for views?
Which side of the plane to be on for views?
Maybe a silly question but I was wondering if anyone has noticed if one side of the plane is better to be on for views when flying into St. Thomas.
We are flying in to STT in 3 weeks and I usually try to get 2 window seats for the kids. Our route is Atlanta to STT.
Getting excited!!!

Granted, if its great views you want, and don't mind the occasional bug in the teeth, by all means sit on the "outside". I am getting to the age where I prefer the "inside".

I prefer the right side of the plane arriving at STT because I like the view of the Spanish Virgins on the way over from SJU and as Marcia says it appears as though you are almost landing on the water. Departing STT I prefer the left side of the plane is the plane usually banks right off the runway at take off and you get a good view of STJ (which usually brings tears to my eyes).

It should. When we flew down, Atlanta route, in June, we had excellent views of those islands from the left side of the plane.Randy in MD wrote:Flying from Miami, the right side is the place to be. You'll see the Bahamas, Turks & Caicos, Hispaniola, & Puerto Rico on the trip down. Not sure though if the Atlanta route will bring you in far south enough to catch all of that.
Check out Seat Guru on Trip Advisor. It won't say which side of the plane is better, but will show which seats have good window views verus bad and will also tell you if you have a 2 window views, also amount of leg room, if the bulkhead is in the way, under seat storage, etc. I just thought it was interesting.
