Any chance of hearing steel drum (pan) music on STJ?

Post by AquaGirl »

We love pan music and were wondering if there is any place to hear it on STJ? I saw an article about the kids group on island that plays, but didn't see a schedule. Perhaps I should call Caneel and Westin to see what's going on there?

I was away on business last week and just got caught up on some of the forum posts. Love the girlie threads on flip-flops, shoe packing and tanning techniques (I use towelettes.) Those threads made me laugh. I am using it to justify taking one more pair of shoes.

Doing some packing today, but not leaving until next Sunday. I just asked hubby if we had to work this week - the trip is sooo close, but seems so far away. The week before vacation at work is always a zoo.

I remember reading something recently(trip report?) that said that the Westin had a steel drum band, but I can't find the reference.

We just got home from St John and we stayed in Coral Bay.

The Aqua Bistro has live steel pan music a couple of nightsa week. We loved their food, service, ambience and music. If not steel pan, there was other musical entertainment in the evenings.

There was a one man steel drum band at the Banana Deck last year and he was good. I do remember hearing that the Westin had one too! If you are traveling before the last week of June and find a good band please post the info. Good luck and enjoy!

Thanks for the info. Aqua Bistro is close to where we are staying so we will definitely check it out. Banana Deck is on our list of restaurants to try too. My hubby is not taking any long pants, so we can't hit the Westin for music unless they have it in an informal venue. I will call them anyway.
We are leaving Sunday so I will be sure to post what we find so the others going later can enjoy too.
