my cat died today
And i cannot stop crying--all of you knew about her when she had her stroke a year and a half ago--today Spinny passed away in my arms -- i know there is lots worse and she lived a good long life (especially considering she was a Harlem street cat) I am just so sad. thanks for letting me vent.

loria, I am very sorry for the loss of your Spinny. I remember her story and have wondered about her; the extra time that she had with you, filled with care and love, no doubt gave you both joy.
Recently, I read that tears of grief are nature's way of reducing the tension caused by a loss. Your sadness is understandable... thinking of you.

My heart goes out to you. This truly has been a miserable day for you. This forum was here for me when our dog died not too long ago-so no apologies needed. Our pets become so much of our lives that it is natural to grieve. How lucky you were to have that extra time with her. What a wonderful husband you have. Lots of love in your house!
So very very sorry for your loss. I empathize completely, my cats mean so much to me. It sounds like you have a wonderfully loving husband too.
Since I don't know your address I'll send along the quote from one of the sympathy cards I have on hand:
"Sometimes best friends walk on four legs"
Just know that I'm sure Spinny loved you just as much as you loved her.

thank you all so much for all of your kind words--she really was a part of our family
--we just buried Spinny between the hydrangea and the azalea near her favorite escape--the-yard spot--we marked the spot with a nice large Maine beach stone and then a stone with a carved infinity sign (which sort of represents her and also how we live in a cycle) my son (he's 11) played a jazz tune he made up (at a slower tempo)--so it was sort of a New Orleans funeral for my Harlem cat. and i think a very fitting celebration of her infinite spinniness--
