I picked Colibri!!!

Post by shellee »

Finally a decision. I am booking Colibri through Catered To. I really struggled between it and Vista Cielo in VGE but in the end the location on Maria Bluff won out. What a great bunch on this forum. I'm sure I will have more questions in the coming months. Thanks for all of your help.

Colibri is awesome! The views from the pool deck are fabulous. You will love it! We stayed in fall 2008 before some of the more recent upgrades and can't wait to go back sometime when all four of us will travel. I'm jealous. Have fun! We've stayed all over that darn island in 20+ trips and I would put Colibri in my top 3. Its our top #1 when with kids!

If it's good enough to get the great review from Liamsaunt, who stayed there in July, I'd say it's a great house. It's always a relief with the villa decision is made.

Ahhh the joys of researching villas and then finally deciding on one. Once the deposit is made, that is when I feel the trip is "official". Great feeling. Have a great trip!!

Tip from our last trip of 3 families -- let everyone book their own car. Give them a list of companies, tell them which one you're going with. Also, book a 4wd, and make it small (e.g. jeep compass instead of a liberty) -- the longer the car the harder it may be to get around some of the steeper switchbacks. We've used Cool Breeze, Conrad Sutton, and Courtesy, all have been fine.

Shellee---Honestly, theres nothing worth stressing about with a rental car. Just decide how many you want and reserve them. I've rented from lots of different companies and never had a problem.

definitely just let everyone book their own -- like iowaguy said, it's easy -- you can do it over email, and they're all within easy walking distance of each other and the ferry dock, so you guys can even get them from different companies, no problem. Making everyone book their own lets each family/couple make their own decisions on size & type, and put up their own credit card for it.

Shellee, the car is definitely no stress. Most of the villa rental agencies will take care of it for you. Just call Catered To, tell them how many you want and what kind, give them a credit card, and relax. They'll do all the work. Destination St. John even picked ours up for us last year, because we got in after the car rental place closed.
