Bedbugs

Post by patr »

I am kinda freaked out by the infestations of bedbugs sweeping the country. I haven't traveled much thus summer. I am wondering if it's hit the islands. We will be overnighting in St Thomas before we head to St John for our 2 week stay next month. I would assume the villas would be ok but am nervous about the hotels on St Thomas. Has anyone had any experience with those little critters?

Somebody a week or two ago did mention that they had bed buds at their hotel on St. John. I would rather not mention what hotel since I can not verify the story. If you are worried, lift up the matress as soon as you get in the hotel and check it out.

I did a search and found a thread regarding bedbugs at the Westin :

I don't know why I didn't see this; it wasn't very old.

I will certainly check out the bed before getting comfy. We arrive after 9:00 pm after a very LONG travel day. I hope I'm not too tired / drugged to remember!

This has been a big issue in NYC in general, not just hotels. I haven't run into bedbugs elsewhere in the country. Maybe the solution is to quarantine the Yankees?
