The Westin

Post by Terry »

Hey...daughter works for St. Regis and gets Starwood discounts that she can give to family and friends. She knows that we love St. John and talk about it alot. Therefore she is wanting to help a friend with his honeymoon and is offering her discount to him at the Westin. I've heard mixed reviews on this property so any suggestions as to what type of accommadations she should suggest are very much appreciated. She can get a regular room for them at $49/night. But should she opt for an upgrade?

I would upgrade to a poolside room if I had the choice. I think the 1st level rooms are better and it feels less like a hotel.

The ones on the hill are fine. For $49, anything is a winner in my opinion!

I love the beach front rooms! The ground fllor rooms have small patios right on the beach!

But depending on the possibilities, the new time shares are really wonderful! Try for the 2nd or 3rd floor for the best views!

It's been four years since we stayed at the Westin, but it's a lovely spot. I would think the 2nd and 3rd floor rooms would give a nice sunset view. How nice of your daughter to help this couple that way. Not sure they could camp for that price!

The pool is really the center of the action at the Westin, so a poolside room would great. Having said that, in our several short visits to the Westin, we have stayed up on the hillside and were happy. At $49/night I would be VERY happy.

Have stayed there several times and always enjoyed it. It is more laid back than you're typical high end resort, and not "fancy" (why we like it), but the pool is awesome, and everything is very convenient. Pool and beach rooms are great- I like the ground floor there, too. If they can upgrade to one of the new Bay Vista villas, go for it for sure but def get a room on an upper floor there for a view- the first floor does not have a view.

Make sure if they get a pool or beach front room, that they have one with a walk out balcony if that is important- the rooms on the upper floors on the ends of those buildings do not have balconies.

Wow- $49 a night is really awesome!!!!

for $49 a night, I would take just about any room! That is a deal and a half!

Just remember that no matter what price you pay or even if you use points you still have to pay the daily "resort fee" of $40.
