Extending trip a few nights

Post by nancyr84 »

The last time we went to St John we ferried over to Virgin Gorda and spent 3 nights. On previous trips we stayed in St Thomas 1 night and then went on to St John. Next year we have our Villa Casa Bueno reserved for 7 nights and I was thinking perhaps adding 2 nights near Cruz bay where we can walk downtown and visit the bars and restaurants, any ideas?

I've done a villa/Gallows Point split stay a couple of times. There's also Lavender Hill right there. Coconut Coast and Cruz Views would be walkable to town also, though further than Gallows or Lavender Hill.
It's like looking in your soup and finding a whole different alphabet.

This year we ended up going 3 days early and staying at Grande Bay and liked it so much we are doing it again next year, starting the trip with 3 days in town and then off to a villa for a week.
Grande Bay was very convenient which was good since we weren't able to get a car for the first 3 days.
I've also read very good reviews of Lavender Hill.

Have to say this never occured to me. If we rented a villa for a week we would just drive into Cruz and spend the day or whatever. Is it worth having to pack back up, just to spend a day or two near Cruz Bay? Just wondering..never crossed my mind to stay in Cruz Bay and then head to villa in another part of the island..I can see if if you were renting on a different island~

Have extended our trips at both Gallows and Grande Bay...for the $$$ we think GB is the better value!

In December will do our week at our Westin time share and then 10 nights at GB!

Really enjoy being in town!

Our last trip, we extended our stay for 4 nights. Since the villa we'd reserved was booked for those dates by then, we stayed at Lavender Hill and were glad we did. Staying in Cruz Bay has a different feel to it. For longer stays we much prefer villas but it's nice and fun for a few nights.

We have extended our stay for 3 nights for our upcoming trip. Just like our last trip, the villa is already booked for those extra nights, so, looks like we will be staying in Cruz Bay again... and we are not sorry about that. We'll see where we'll end up.

Would rather not do all that if we were staying at a villa on the Cruz Bay side, but we are usually staying in Coral Bay and do enjoy staying in Cruz Bay for a few nights. Packing isn't a big hassle for us. We just pack loosely since we aren't flying yet. I imagine most condos let you drop off your luggage early (our luggage was dropped off at Lavender Hill by 11:30 a.m.), so you can do whatever after that.

If you are only a couple, Estate Lindholm near Asolare is an option. That would be good excercise walking back up that hill.
