More 3 bedroom villa opinions

Post by shellee »

OK everybody,
Adding a couple more villas to the mix and I don't think I can get everything I want in my price range so here's a new list: Ellison which has 3 equal bedrooms, Villa Romance (no sunsets and a little over budget), Leeward (no sunsets) and Splendore. I see that Splendore doesn't really have a 3rd bedroom as advertised but only a sofa sleeper. Has anyone ever used this room??? I still love Colibri but other couples don't want the twin bed situation so guess I could take the twin bedroom. It would be worth it if the villa were as terrific as it looks. My better half (and more decisive half)has given me until the end of this weekend to rent something or he is threatening to do it himself which could be disasterous!!!

Before our group got too large we rented Oceanport on Hart Bay - not far from Maria Bluff. It's got 3 bedrooms in the main part of the house and a separate small apartment-like set up on a lower level if more room is needed. One room has twin beds, but I think they can convert to a king if you request it. It's another older villa at the lower end of the price range and there's no pool. The kitchen wasn't high end and there was some rust on the outside of the refrigerator but everything worked fine. There was a hot tub (again, not working when we were there)but it is close to the water with gorgeous views. Everyone really liked that one even without a pool because we'd spend the whole day at the beach and the pool wasn't missed. My only complaint was that there was no covered area on the deck so no shade until late afternoon. There was a lovely little garden area in the back where we'd sit for coffee in the mornings because the sun was too blinding and hot on the deck. By the time we got back from the beaches in the afternoon there was some shade on the deck and it was cooler because the breeze picked up. It was delightful at night because it got all the ocean breezes and you could hear the waves. There are stairs that take you down to Hart Bay, but it was completely overgrown when we were there. Toward the end of our stay one of the guys "borrowed" some clippers in a storage area and cleared the trail. Be warned though - the hike up and down is long and steep and the beach at Hart Bay is rocky so you probably would not want to hang out down there although it's a good place to look for shells and coral. The road leading to the house was really bumpy when we were there 2 yrs ago, however they had started paving it that week so it might be much better now.

we stayed at the Villa next door to Leeward (Seacay) July 08. From the road and the view from our driveway deck area was very impressive
this photo shows you the Villa is fairly private the second photo shows you view looking down the road the last one shows you the water. Good luck in your search

Have you looked at Calypso del Sol? It's very near Villa Romance but it does have sunset views. There are twins downstairs but they can be set up as kings. It's a great house.

We stayed at Splendore and I LOVED the house. I rave about it whenever anyone asks about it.

But there is no way I would ever expect a paying adult to use the third room. The third room is reached by a metal spiral staircase. It is small and I don't think it has AC, which could be a problem considering the walls are all windows. I only went up the stairs once and it was HOT.

Also, there is no bathroom for that bedroom so whoever stayed there would need to use one of the master baths.

I was wondering if you have checked to see if the twin beds could be pushed together to make a king or whatever? That is often the case..
Also...word of advice from prev. experience..Each couple needs their own bedroom, don't do the pull out sofa thing...it may sound ok in theory, but it sucks. We tried it once, and won't ever do it again..

I'm not as concerned about sunrise or sunset views. If you're willing to consider other options, check out Mayan Sky near Coral Bay.

I really like this house. Nearly Equal BR's and good privacy for each BR. http://www.vivacations.com/site/Overvie ... fault.aspx

I can give you more detail if you're interested.

ha ha..finally someone more indecisive than me :)

I know I have suggested Calypso Del Sol, Andante By the Sea, Villa Bijou and Splendore but not sure if I mentioned La Papaya? Looks really nice...but maybe still not the expansive views you are looking for? Bongo Bongo? Idyllic? Indigo? Hale Lani should have the views you want.

I'm not sure what your budget is and/or time of the year for vacation - have you looked at Acqua Blu? Our group seriously considered this vill for our upcoming trip, however there were only 4 bedrooms and a fifth media room that would allow for additional sleeping accomodations (probably more suitable for teenagers than an adult couple. We needed five bedrooms. It's absolutely beautiful and they have a very nice web site. Good luck with your search! :D

We stayed at Calypso Del Sol when Villa Romance was being built (next door) and it does have sunset views. Villa Romance is definately on my list the next time we need three bedrooms. AND I would definately stay at Calypso Del Sol again.

Wow, you guys are all so great. I know you must be getting tired of my indecisiveness!!! Kristen, I am the QUEEN of indecision. Glad to know Villa Romance has sunsets though it is a little over budget. Budget is around 4,000. We will be traveling in early summer. Everyone has been a great help and I am taking your ideas and opinions into account. I have narrowed the choices down officially though and I will not be looking at any more villas!!!! LOL.
Here is the list, if anyone wants to make any more comments about one of these villas, please feel free.
Colibri
Belvedere
Leeward
Palm Vista
Villa Romance
Vistaero
Thanks to each and every one of you!!!!

Palm Vista looks nice, but it's further away from Cruz Bay than the others, which you may find to be a pain if you think you'll be out in Cruz bay a lot for dinner & drinks. I've stayed at Vistaero, liked it, but it sound like more recent renters have had problems with maintenance, so ask lots of questions about current conditions. I really like the Maria Bluff location of Colibri and Belvedere - nice neighborhood, easy roads.

I know you said no more suggestions, but have you looked at Seaview homes Beija Flor or Maria Breeze? Beija Flor has a nice location overlooking Rendezvous (closer to water than vistaero), and Maria Breeze looks like it is in the Maria bluff area as well.
