Need help purchasing digital picture frame

Was wondering if any folks have had experience with digital picture frames? This is our first and didn't find much on Consumers Report. We were thinking of 8" with good resolution, ample amount of picture storage, looking to spend about $125. for the right one. We're open to any hints and suggestions that might be out there. Thanks!

Do your research! Hubby bought me the Kodak Easyshare P730 for Christmas, and you can only load pics by plugging in the digital card from the camera. That wasn't at all what I wanted

I want one that you can load your edited pics into... Is there such an animal?
Our St. John pics were long since erased, when he bought me the frame!

I'm not an expert, but I believe all digital picture frames require you to use a card. All you need to do is get a blank card and dedicate it to the picture frame. Then transfer the images of your choice from your computer to the card. That way you aren't using the card from your camera all the time.

I have a GiiNii and it allows either a card or a thumb drive to be attached. This then will allow as much memory as you would ever need. You can put hundreds of photos on it. My frame is an 8" like you are thinking and it cost less than the $125 and a thumb memory or card memory was a separate purchase, but those are now pretty cheap. I actually wish my frame was a little bigger.

I received an 8" as a gift a couple of years ago. I rarely use it. Why? Because the screen is so small you can't really see the photos across a living room. It's a good size if you're going to use it on a desk but if it's to be used in your home as a feature that people will glance over and look at, spend the extra $$ and get a much larger photo frame.

So, it is $375 more than you want to spend, but it is like getting a $375 dollar iPad

OK CG, I'm not very techy. Not at ALL techy. How do I put pics from the computer onto the camera card?

We got one as a gift from the in laws a couple of years back and I have to be honest, it generally sits on a table in the living room turned off.

We just don't use it. Not sure why. It came with a remote and it's nice but I just don't care for it for some reason. I wouldn't want to leave it on all the time and if I just turn it on when someone comes over then it seems pretentious.

I guess I could bring it to my office. But I never use it at home.

As for the actual device. Works fine, tastefully designed. Remote stores into the back of the frame so you don't lose it. If the power goes off and comes back on at home it automatically turns on. Not sure why.

My comments follow those of Gromit and Bubbly. Received one for two Christmas' ago. Have to be honest to say that it has sat. I find that if I want to show someone pix that I just hook up my laptop and have better resolution. I think Anthony's idea is the best using the ipad. I just don't think they're worth the money.

The same here. I got one as a Christmas gift, it was fun to see all the pictures our son had put in, but now it's standing on my desk - always turned off.

Thanks to EVERYONE who assisted with their good knowledge and experience! I'm still "mulling" it over since we had company last weekend. Will post back with the final decision. As always, VIOL members are exceptionally supportive and generous of the time they give.
