One decision down!

Post by kristen1206 »

We are doing our BVI trip with Palm Tree! Here is what he suggested for an itinerary:

"Hi Kristen, If you want to snorkel, sightsee, beach hop, and have a cocktail I think the best trip is: cruise the N shore of St John, stopping for a snorkel then The Indians, next Pirates on Norman Is. for cocktails, lunch at Willy T, then Smugglers Cove for a dip, next Sandy Spit and wind up at the Soggy Dollar for Painkillers."

Sandy Spit and Jost Van Dyke are my must sees. If we were to bypass one of the spots for more time on Jost, which do guys think? Norman island? Indians? I am disappointed about not seeing the Baths but I think Capt John will show us a better time overall.

Just let Capt Brandi take the reigns. He won't steer you wrong....

Someone correct me if I am wrong but isn't snorkelling at the Indians often iffy due to the weather/water conditions?

Therefore, one stop may be eliminated naturally.

Could you stand an earlier or later lunch?

The captains we have chartered with over the years sort of had a "meh" opinion of the Willy T. They were more than willing to take us but when asked, all had the opinion there were better places for lunch.

The only thing to skip on that itinerary is the snorkel on St. John since you can do that another day. All the others are must-do's. That's his favorite trip....same thing he suggested for us.

Make sure you jump off the Willy T, regardless of what the sign says. It'll look great on the video.

we are very flexible as far as when we eat etc. what other lunch options are in the vicinity? Is there a restaurant at Pirate's Bight? Or could we even eat at Jost?

You can eat at Pirate's if you don't want to eat on the Willy T, or just bring some sandwiches along with you.

Thanks Dave. And definitely going to skip the St John snorkel. Regarding the video he takes...is there a charge for that?

Just go with what he says and wait until that day to really make your decisions.
It will all depend on weather and conditions, so just prepare for one awesome day!!!!

The video is part of your trip, I love ours!

IMHO I would skip the Willy T., to spend more time on Jost. The Willy T has a Spring Break "Girls Gone Wild" kind of vibe that just doesn't appeal to me.

Also.. there's a reason why the sign says no jumping!
There have been some serious injuries as a result..a fast way to ruin a vaaction, or worse!

I don't necessarily disagree about skipping Pirate's and the Willy T. And the comment about a Girls Gone Wild vibe on the Willy T is correct.

We didn't get to visit Foxy's, so by skipping Norman Island you would have plenty of time for that.

Snorkeling Indians is a must.

I have jumped off the Willy T more times than I can count and I have even done a body shot or 2

I have also been witness to an actual Girls Gone Wild event (not by choice)....The Willy T is nothing like that at all, perhaps a little more wild than Jost, but it can be a lot of fun for many people and has one of the best Chicken Roti that I have had.

All depends on what you like to do on your day!
I say to not miss the Willy T.

For me the Wily T is a hit or miss experience.

It can be pretty dead if no ones on board, but it can soemtimes be a bit off the hook if you've got too much of a crowd.

They serve an excellent Roti and the food overall is decent. Part of the charm of the Willy T is that it's a unique experience being on that kind of boat for lunch.

That being said, there are plenty of other interesting experiences in the neighborhood and lots of food options on neighboring islands, many of which offer their own form of fun.
