Will a 4 door Wrangler hold 4 adults and 4 suitcases?

Post by kristen1206 »

My husband says no way but it seems people here do it all the time without issue. Am I correct or is he?

I am not a fan of the Jeeps for 4 people.
The 4 door will allow you more seating room for 4, but I still think that the storage for luggage and/or beach stuff is just not adequate.

We had 4 in a Jeep Liberty and I felt we had more storage and it was small enough for me to be comfortable parking

You mean he hasn't learned that "marriage is where one of you is always right, and the other one is the husband"?

We've had four adults in a 4-door Wrangler, and we've had three adults plus luggage. I'm pretty sure that you could make it work, even if one suitcase had to ride in the backseat with the passengers.

I think you're correct. I read that it seats 1-5 and has the capacity to hold four large suitcases. There will be four adults and one child on our next trip and this is what we're planning on renting...so...the cargo space is NOTHING like the typical two door jeeps...much bigger...

So driving from the airport to the car barge then on to the villa with it probably wouldn't be do-able? But if we picked up the car in Cruz bay and just had to drive to Chocolate Hole, we should should be ok I would think? heck at that point, I may just consider a 2 door and make 2 trips to the villa.

Not unless the villa greeter takes some of your bags in their car or you have VERY SMALL bags.

The four door sacrifices rear storage for the additional seating IMHO.

Like X says - go for a Liberty or something a little bigger. Or if it's two couples I would suggest each couple gets their own jeep for maximum flexibility.

Thanks all. Will take all of this into consideration. One last question. If we choose to rent on St. John at the agency closes at 6 do you think we will make it in time if we have a flight that arrives at 3:22 PM?

Yes. You will make it. But if you're delayed, simply call the rental car co and they will leave the keys in the car for you and you just have to swing by the next day to do the paperwork.

Alternatively you can arrange for the vila greeter to pick up the keys for you.

Either way you just have to come back by the next day to do the paperwork.

Good to know, thanks. Conrad Suttton's 4 door is less expensive than Discount or Dependable so we may just opt to rent there. We may pay a little more when you factor in cabs etc but it's pretty comparable. And here I thought I had all this decided!!

Though with Conrad, the car has to be dropped off by 10:30 am and out flight isn't until 4:30 so that leaves us in Cruz bay with hours, which would be fine if we didn't have all our luggage! arghhh

Kristen,

Speaking from experience, the 4 door 4WD Jeep has more than enough room for 4 adults. The only question I would have is the SIZE of the suitcases - if you are talking about 4 large check-in size suitcases, it might be a little tight, however 4 carry-on plus a couple of duffle bags, beach bags, etc. no problem. In fact, we prefer the 4 door jeeps for the space they have in the rear - great for loading up for the beach. We are renting two of these from Dependable in our upcoming Fall trip. Please feel free to ask any other questions you have! 8)
