Nice flowers, and healthy looking too!
Friends, they go away then they re-appear...I believe there is Magic here.

Seriously... if those pictures don't make you smile you've got no soul. I *heart* your sunflowers.

Wow, you did good! I love sunflowers, but that's one thing I can't grow! Birds get the seeds, maybe?? Anyway, I love your sunflowers too!

Thanks everybody, just trying to spread the sunshine.
We had an unusually hot dry summer this year and even w/o any watering the plants grew like crazy. All the flowers were from seed packets from either Home Depot or Walmart or True Value, so nothing special. Picked up 3 or 4 varieties. The garden's still going strong-great year for okra which doesn't always do well this far north.

Nice eye Saltydog for seeing the other flowers, but actually they're Cosmos-which I think are like marigolds. Something that just caught my attention from the seed packet and they too just grew like wildfire. Here's a better picture

For those who are good at seeing other things-here's an outhouse in the background

Now I just need to convince my husband that the flowers are worthwhile, he'd like to make the garden even bigger for veggies, me I like the pretty flowers!

Sunflowers are beautiful. I don't think I have seen a red sunflower before. Is that common?

We have spread some seed on the plot, where we have our vacation home. It should only be wild flowers, but we also have got some marigolds.

I don’t think they belong in the landscape, but they are so nice, so I haven’t removed them.

But luckily I also am able to make the nicest bunch of flowers, I know:

marguerites, poppies and cornflowers with some grasses between!

Thanks form posting your pictures Linne, yours make me happy too :)
I don't see poppies much anymore, but I remember my parents used to have them against a picket fence. Love the orange color!

The red sunflowers must not be as common, but since I bought the seeds just at a chain store, they seem to be pretty available; I just thought they looked interesting. Good luck to all who are going to plant some next year, again I did nothing special during the season at all, no water other than when it rained, but they were planted in a garden where we worked in all our fall leaves for compost and it was a beautiful hot summer. Post pictures next year :)

I LOVE LOVE LOVE your red poppy ...is that a white delphinum [right of the poppy] getting ready to open? what is the blue flower?
what is the little itty bitty white flower with the yellow throat a marguerite or dalberg daisy?
thank you linne and toni for sharing....such happy plants!!!
Sallydog, I don't know exactly which flowers there were among the seeds, and some of the flowers are not from seed but self-seeded from year to year. Also I don't know the English names or the names of all the flowers, so I'm not able to answer in details about all the flowers. But I haven't seen a white delphinum. I think some of the flowers are Dalberg daisy. The white flowers I named marquerit are actually not real marquerits but camomile flowers. We have them every year. The blue flower is a cornflower, there are a lot of them. Here some more pictures from our plot:

I love this picture of the cornflowers, so we have enlarged it, put it in a frame and have it in our sleeping room.
